i've had this problem for ages now,it's a right pain in the hole.. the only way i can access the internet is by opening up real player and going in to real guide.the page that comes up has an address bar so i can get on to other sites through that. if i try to open internet explorer or any of the website icons i have saved on my desktop the egg timer appears for a few secs but then just disappears again. i have no toolbar either so can't copy or paste or anything like that. anyone know what the problem might be?
Could be a problem with internet explorer. Download mozilla firefox and try that as your browser. Its better than IE anyway. You may also have a virus.
I dont have a clue about these things Willie but something similair happened were were i downloaded a file and every time i tried to get the google search page my internet explorer went hiding .Had to delete the file to get me computer working properly again.I know its not same problem as yours but maybe you recently downloaded something thats causing it.Delete it and see what happens.
thanks for replying mate. would i have to uninstall ie before doing that? i downloaded avg the other night but when i did i couldn't even access the internet through real guide so had to uninstall it again....
No, just download mozilla and work away. You can even use them both at the same time. Its far more stable aswell, sometimes i cant get past "page cannot be displayed" on IE, but mozilla usually never fails. add ons like "stumbleupon" are class with Firefox too.

try out google chrome aswell, some people i know love it and would never go back to internet explorer again havent tried it myself though
