My laptops keyboard is not working .
I turned it on today and it was working , but one of the kids pulled the plug on it and there was no power in the battery so it went off . Then when I turned it back on the keyboard was not working to type in my password.
I went into BIOS and it didn’t work there either , plus the cap lock or number locks button lights aren’t going on .

    Any suggestions ?

    Thanks in advance .

No worries mate, sorry I couldn't help, but I'll bet you Redwally will know the score when he comes online.

PS It's a pity a few others hadn't got broken keyboards just after the final whistle went last night!!! :D

Interesting that when power died that it killed the keyboard. Try removing and inserting battery with power lead disconnected. Then do a restart. Any joy?

You say kids were at this? Are they competent enough to muck around with windows, install rubbish on it etc etc?

What make and model is it?

Firstly , thanks for your reply mate .

As for the kids , I have given it to them yet ,so thats ruled out .

Last night I rang a mate who knows a bit about it and he told me similar to yourself , to take out battery and then hold the power button and this is supposed to reset the motherboard. I have now tried boths ways now and no joy.

    Its a Dell inspiron 9100
    Approx 4 years old .

When you turn it on now , it says in the top corner
Diagnostic boot selected , then it does a load of tests which it passes untill it gets to the LCD test and you have to press Y or N to say if you have seen the colour bars .
So as the keyboard isn't working I cant get passed this .

(Which, when you think about it is a flaw in the system.
It should test the keyboard before it asks you to use it in the test )

Anyway dont let it ruin your weekend ;)
    and thanks again . :)
