Luckily for me I got word for Zaynar before his race with Hebridean! :p

€25 ew at 25/1. Lookin good so far, best priced 7/2 now. A friend of mine who gave me the tip has €100 ew at 33s, and €50 ew at 28s. :) He has laid most of it off now, but im sticking to my guns.

Fancy Walkon in this race. 2nd to Zaynar two races ago but was giving 7lbs, still 10/1.

Hacked up last time out..

And has been steadily backed since, now only 7/1 at best with the bookies, not sure about the exchanges.

Tranquil Sea on Betfair is at 59s to win. considering last years Punchestown form when it beat Trafford Lad and Fiveforthree, this is a way overpriced horse for the Arkle.

Hasn't been seen since he ran a stinker in fairyhouse back in November.
Any word on him since that day? Also he's been stepped up to 2.5 miles since he went chasing.
Could be one for Punchestown again this year as he didn't seem to run up to his form last year in the supreme novice. Led 2 out and faded up the hill last year if i remember. Then again if he does go there i'll have to back him as O'Grady doesn't send over Donkeys for the day out :D

Backed Sizing Europe at 10's, not sure what he is now but I imagine its more than 10's. He'll need a wind operation to get back to his best so I may as well bin my slip.

Ebadiyan looks the business and I have him at 25.

I was disappointed with his jumping Signora. Lucky not to go at the first. The positives to take out of the race is he looks like he'd relish a strongly run race like the Triumph, as the slow pace of Saturday's race clearly didnt suit. He'll also be schooled better over hurdles I'd imagine.

All in all, I wouldnt back him at his current price, but happy enough at the price I got him. Wouldn't be confident of collecting at this stage though.

Wasn't impressed at all really with Zaynar, confident Walk On could beat him.

Master minded is a machine, best horse i've seen in years. Backed Twist Magic a few times now but to no avail.

Thought Calgary Bay was very impressive too seeing as he doesn't like tracks liek that. Should be fave for Cheltenham.

Came second last year to Inglis Drever as a 6 year old. That form alone would be enough but he also ran a few cracking races on the flat last summer back in France including a group 3 success. He's my bet of this years festival.

He will surely improve but will it be by enough.? Nothing really seems outstanding at the min and the King George form took a beating too on Sat. All the same the 4/1 or 9/2 for Denman may be a great ew bet to nothing.

JamesM
09-02-2009, 10:29 AM

paul nicholls says there wont be huge improvement in him.maybe we expected too much on his first run back.9/2 is probably a fair price considering all the question marks about him.they ruled out a national bid today

Thinking about this, perhaps Madison de Berlais isn;t getting the credit he deserves for the run on Sat. Taking Denamn out of the equation he beat Alberta run by what - 40 lenghts or so. Makes Kautos King George form look average. Does anyone have any idea of the two times involved - KS's King George win versus MDB on Saturday.?

JamesM
10-02-2009, 09:56 AM
Sats race was on good to soft and soft places and ran in 6min 27 secs.

King George - Going Good and ran in 5min 57 secs

King George the year before was was on good to soft and soft places and ran in 6min 09 secs.

Paul
10-02-2009, 11:43 AM
Imagine if Madison de Berlais had not run on Saturday, he could easy have got snowed in at he's yard.

We'd have seen Alberta run's being beaten out of sight by Denman.

Layers would have reacted by slashing Denman to even money.

Goes to show how mis-leading things can/could be.

Rover 609
10-02-2009, 11:58 AM
Alberta,s run not the horse he was last year, has one half decent run to his name this season thats it tho,not a reliable yardstick when weighing up the form imo.A few worth bearing in mind ew against the field Exotic Dancer if you can get 16s, been there and while Kauto has broke his heart more than once has held his form remarkably well,Barber Shop looks the type with a big feature if you can secure 20s with a run worth taking a chance that his stamina issues not exposed.Has won over 3m 1f at Sandown this season.Halcon Generladais ultra tough top class handicapper, well used to carrying welter burdens in all the top class staying chases.Trainer has said Aintree deffo not on the cards for this fella and and top class handicappers ie Sir Rembrandt and Harbour Pilot have run well in recent gold cups, worth an ew poke if you can get 50s.

i still like denman , its his first run back since a heart problem , he nearly died on the operating table ,the horse has special all over him, he was a tank last year at chelt and this year he will be the same ,its a two horse race i think ,kauto and denman

Also have a funny feeling Original will run well in the Arkle. French trained, and hasn't been seen since he won a Grade 2 at Kempton over Christmas by 9 lengths at 66/1!! He could be anything, good or bad, and with doubts about a lot of the market leaders ill be taking a punt that he's good! 20/1

Nah Titti it wasnt your fault, I was always going to back him after Weld's quotes. Either he was blatantly lying to punters, or like me, was a bit disappointed by the run at Leopardstown. It's a race I have terrible luck in anyway.

Just got word to back Raise Your Heart for the County Hurdle on Friday. I was told to back it today as the money is piling on. 10/1 in Paddy Powers, but 16/1 in Ladbrokes.

After reaching €290.00
started chasing more money and down to €80.00 so loosing €10 on the week which is not to bad.

Another disater day for me, only had the 1 winner.

Backed American Trilogy at 20-1 e/w, I'm new to betting on horses but the philosophy is simple, if it's got Ruby Walsh on board it wins, get in Ruby ya beaut.

(Gave it all back on the virtuals today tho, got 16 to won winner and they said i was late :o wouldn't pay me out. Well **** ladbrokes anyway)

watched walk ons race at cheltenham and if the horse goes at aintree and the grounds right i reckon it could be a good thing as the flatter track will suit him better.
