And then left at a drop of a hat and we went on to number 5
To Answer squirrel's question he still has that stricker instinct but lacks
the pace that made him terrifying. Personally I would never want him
in a red shirt again it would not be the same, I'd like to remember him at his best for us so adios Mickey

In hindsight Fowler coming back was not the same either they will never be the players they were and imo are best remembered at their best with us Robbie hardly sparkled when he came back one piece of brilliance against reading but it was not the wonder kid who tore the Mancs apart at Old Trafford thats the Robbie I want to remember

Couldn't agree more. The only way Robbie could have topped his previous cult status was if he scored the winner in Athens last May, but Rafa never picked him and you couldn't blame him. Years down the road all I'll remember of Robbie was the aforementioned OT Manc game, and the goals against Villa in the cup semi back in the mid 90's.

The only thing owen cares about is london f.c. He never cared about liverpool or madrid or newcastle. His main goal in life will be to win the world cup with engerland and lets not forget...3 goals in 2 matchs means feck all really. He's done nowt over the last few years and now the english press are wetting themselves over him.Let slur alex have him in january and lets all move on from this twat.

yes but still done the job for us when he pulled on the Liverpool jersey and for that reason alone he should be respected

Exactly. A lot of people seem to forget just how good Owen was for us. Over 150 goals he got plus he won the cup almost single handedly in 2001.

The only thing Owen has proven over the past 2 seasons is how injury prone he is. Rafa has a certain type of player he likes and that is a hard worker. Owen at his peak for LFC never covered the ground that Torres, Kuyt and Vorinin cover and Rafa wouldnt tolerate his me, myself and I attitude.
I have great respect for what Owen did at the club but he is past tense now, his love is England and that 49 goal record. He joined Newcastle, the trophy free zone, despite leaving us to win more things just to make sure he could play for England and that says all there is to know about the Owen of today.
He'll always score goals, he did for us. He'll always be a liability, he was for us. He can't play for the team the way Kuyt or Torres does, the team has to play to him. And if he doesn't score then the team is screwed. Don't forget all those years he was scoring 18 league goals there was nearly always 2/3 hattricks against lesser teams bumping up the stats! Good riddance
Oh and the difference between he and Fowler is that Fowler didn't want to go and certainly didn't hold the club to ransom

Were well shot of Owen, remember this is the lad who said on the saturday he'd be signing a new contract and by the following thursday he was a Real Madrid player given rafa no time to replace him as the transfer window was just over, if that is'nt enough to convince you, read Guillem Balague's book "A season on the brink " about Rafas first 2 seasons in charge. It explains how micheal owen could have returned to us as madrid were desperate to cash in on him as they wanted to buy Sergio Ramos, although Newcastle had bid £17m and we had offererd only £12m, all Owen had to do was say he only wanted to go to Liverpool and Madrid would have accepted our offer, but Owen once again just put playing for england 1st. All that and the fact he's a walking injury and were playing much better without him should be enough to convince any doubters.
