Nice one, have allways wondered what a ski trip would be like, is it hard mark and what is the apres ski like ?
This one is only a lads long weekend, the real Ski trip is on the 14th March!! for a week! Only started last new years for week, was'nt that impressed because mammy and Daughter just did'nt get it. Then the lads organised a long weekend this time last year and it was fcuking brill, although the apres ski was'nt the best but restaurant and Bar at slopes so had few scoops at lunch time and afterwards but nothing mad! Its hard starting off, but after a few lessons you'd be pissing it down the slopes, either on your feet or arse!! I have very bad feet down to accident on go kart when i was youger (self Made cart i must add) and ended up having to take boots off every hour or so, but had the best crack and would recommend to everyone to try once. and you never know you might like it! Very cheap at the price as we paid including food drink etc at new years around €6,500 in total we did'nt know at the time that it was the dearest resort in france! Doh! but you learn by your mistakes!!
Christ..that is cheap, cant go wrong there mate. never went skiing meself, the creaking knees wouldnt take it now!
Fook me, thats cheap Mark. Am heading skiing 25th this month for 1st time, so any hints tips would be very much appreciated. Cheers
Hi Steve, Where you heading too? This is no holiday mate, it's hard work. Be sure to get lessons and if possible try get one on one lessons usually around €25.00 per hour, 3/4 hours will have you down Green/Blue slopes, Red/Black for later date mate! Our bus picks us up at hotel at 7.30am upto slopes (1/2hr away)and we ski until 5.30pm each day with lunch break and beers You ski better then!! Best thing to buy is a few good pairs of ski socks. As you need to have protection against ski boots. Good ski thermals, and few warm tops. Also try make sure you organise your ski passes before you go, as some fcukers try rip you off when your there, unless its all included in your package.
I was skiing in slovakia last year and everything worked out ridiculously cheap. Flights were about €60, hotel was €15 a night and the ski pass for three days was about €40. The rental was very cheap too but i can't remember exactly how much it was. The slopes were very good and the instructors were all very helpful and spoke good english but there were a few issues on one of the days with lift queues. Heading to zakopane in poland this year for a week at the end of this month, can't wait to go and have heard that the apres ski is pretty fantastic here too.
Flights to Munich with Aer Lingus for 60 quid return start of march, only an hour to Soll, hotel €130 for three nights B&B, not bad at all for long weekend in a recognised resort.
That looks a great deal Not a massive skiing fan. Went to Livingo a few years ago with a large group of lads. Everyone saying once you go skiing once, its the only holiday you would go on. Not for me, thought it was a lot of hard work and found the Apres Ski to be fairly tame. If you are into Restaurants and a bit of light entertainment, it grand, but if you are going on the lash, then its hard to get decent spots to go. It had not snowed for three weeks and the slops were like ice rinks. I just could not get it. It probably did not help that we were out to all hours and were hardly in great humor next day for learning the snow plough. If I was going again I would go with a small group and take it easy on the sauce.
Don't let hhis happen you A skier was left dangling from a chairlift at an American resort after he became stuck upside-down with his ski trousers round his ankles. Photos show the man naked from his waist to his knees, swinging from one leg, and still wearing both skis. He became entangled shortly after boarding the Skyline Express lift. The lift was stopped and reversed about 12ft (3.6m) before he was freed by the Vail Ski Patrol, Vail Resort said in a statement about the 1 January incident. The resort operator said the 48-year-old man was suspended for about seven minutes, but was uninjured.
If I was going again I would go with a small group and take it easy on the sauce. Thats what we'll aim for this time next year the first ever Irishkop Ski weekend!!
Actually should have posted the link from BBC's website. I reckon that man will pull off a big lawsuit
Me too Paul, The cnuts have reduced the flights we paid €90.00 Monday+ Booking fees baggage etc, to €50.00 today, suppose you win some you loose some. At that flight would have brought down our trip too around € 315 all in, now that is a great price. Flights now €50.00 Hotel 4 nights B&B 5 days €240.00 this price includes ski pass for the 4 days, ski gear rental, coach transfers for the 5days, etc. Security flight €25.00 On the tuesday morning in case the monday night flight is cancelled as happened last year and we got stuck in Milan for extra 3 days at €270.00 per night in hotel and €350.00 for aerlingus flight home. Unbelieveable value at €315.00 all in, can't be beaten and good resort. as above
You still got a great price, but as you said its a cnut when things like that happen. I have always wanted to go Skiing,I am going to have to go some year.
If there's enough interested we can try organise Irishkop trip this time next year. Would be great crack and great excuse to get away from it all!! Last year was my first year and must say i'm hooked now!
Thank fcuk! for that security flight we booked, or we'd still be in milan. Just going through security on monday night when they announced that Ryanair flight cancelled to bad weather in Dublin Deja Vu or what, could'nt believe what i was hearing! Got home at 12noon yesterday. Excellent time, but aching all over
****in hellRemember our ski lift stopped 3-4 years ago and there was a girls screaming her lungs out behind us.Everything and everyone stopped dead cos she was dangling from about 25-30 ft on the chairlift. There was just an eerie silence as everyone had stopped skiing to watch and then she fell and there was a sickening thud.Turned out she was from Clare.
