Looks like the Blob Shop facing stiff competition THE cost of a pint will be slashed to less than £1 in eight Liverpool pubs this week in a bid to offset the credit crunch for customers. The new pricing will kick in on Monday at Wetherspoon pubs, and will run indefinitely in a move that is sure to raise concerns about cheap alcohol among the region’s health organisations. A pint of Greene King IPA will cost 99p, a bottle of San Miguel 99p, a bottle of Blossom Hill Rosé £4.99, a single measure of Sailor Jerry rum and mixer for £1.29 and a bottle of Jacques cider 750ml for £3.99. The announcement comes on the back of a torrid year for pubs. Liverpool bucked the trend with a net gain of three pubs and bars, but city brewer Cains endured a turbulent time after incurring debts in the region of £50m. Last nigh,t Lyndsay Waldron, manager of The Raven, in Walton Vale – one of the locals cutting prices – said: “I appreciate that the economic downturn means that punters now have to be more careful with their money. “I believe the new drink prices will allow people to enjoy a visit to the pub without it costing them too much.
We can dream mate ... Just saw in the newspapers today, Slapper Face Jacks made a profit of something like €6.6m for their last financial year ... not like they (and Im sure many others) couldn't afford to drop the price of a pint a bit now is it. I was in another bar recently and got charged €5.20 a pint (at 7.00 in the evening, not even late night prices) ... absolute rip off. Vote with your feet ....
Jesus thats insane about Slappers...some money in boggers, guards and nurses!! Just on your rant about prices, living in england me and 2friends were out in a pool hall (Rileys a chain of pool halls who had a 3 for 2 promotion) so we were drinking 3 pints for £5.20, then i arrived back to Ireland and me and mrs potatohead had a drink while waiting for the train...two pints 9.70 Euro....Sweet divine!!
Profile says ur a student and you dont know the price of a bevvy You wont get anywere mate were a pint is under 4e so depending were you socialise expect to fork out anything between 4.20e and 5.50e
To be honest with you we buy bottles, drink them at home an then sneak vodka onto the pub .. Not very classy I know but in the economic climate it has to be done..
You think thats bad !! I was in a well known city centre pub last weekend and paid 6.40eur for a pint of Carlsberg
