Ok i know its a bit of time away but would like to know what my options are, I'm off to new york in nov for a fdew days and will be there for the euro game against besiktas (nov 6) anybody know where would be a good place to watch this game? I'm staying near madison sq garden so anywhere around there would be great, thanks in advance.
Loppy unfortunately I'm not sure of a venue's as I'm based in Philadelphia but I do know that CL games are shown by ESPN and PL ganes by fox soccer. So you may be able to do a search of the ESPN site 1st to see if they are showing it and then google the pubs in the area of NY you are to see if they have it. ANy pub with ESPN should show it without hassle as it'll be on in the afternoon stateside with no clash with american sports.
Hi It's been a couple of years since I was last in NY, but last time I was there I found a fairly good sports bar over near the entrance to the shopping centre on 5th Avenue (think it was something like 34th & 5th) - centre was a large, 7 story job, could have been called the Manhattan Mall I think. Otherwise, many of the Irish bars over around 2nd & 3rd street had lots of European sports on, I wanted to see a couple of Irish Rubgy internationals at the time, had lots of Irish bars to select from, many of which did the old fry up and a pint of guinness for you while you watched the games etc
Your best bet is to google LFC supporters clubs in NYC and send them an email,I am sure loads of bars will have the game but the supporters club will put you wide to decent bars.
I think this place cost us about a tenner in a taxi from tmes square but its safe as. http://lfcny.org/11thstbar.htm
lfc ny supporters club, ch ch ch ch ch check it out... www.lfcny.org will let yoou know if game is live/shown later etc and they meet at that pub so good crowd. oh and taxis are for tourists, use the trains!
oh yeah if your in ny ya gotta travel on the sub. checked out the page for that pub, looks the spot alright, 2:30 pm kick off, could be a long day.
LOL Sod that, if your not too far away, just jump in a cab it's far less hastle and you've some chance of aircon
