Id like to see El Zahr, Ngog get a run out here. I presume Pepe will be rested too. Skertal should get a start .
Wouldn play too many youngsters tho remember what happened in the league cup.

Last time pepe touched the ball in the fa cup was saving anton ferdinands peno to win it a few years back - big campaign in Kop Magazine for him to start this one but I'd rather give Cavalieri the experience to be honest.God forbid if pepe got a bad injury we'd need diego to be on song so a few games in the cup are crucial for him-plus i have alot more trust in him than itandje.this game requires a blend of youth and experience.\i'd have something along the lines of:

That is very impressive.
This should be no problem really even with a weakened team. Would like to see Torres make his comeback but not play to long cause dont wanna see a recurrence of his injury would also like to see Stephen Darby and Ngog or Nemeth play altough not sure if Nemeth is still injured or if he has come back(think he has).

FA Cup; who needs it!!! If we get knocked out on Saturday, I won't be exactly crying myself to sleep over it.
Yes it is great to win the FA Cup (and I was celebrating in May 2006 like everybody else when Pepe saved that penalty) but our main priority should be the League and resting players for it. ManU had the right idea when they skipped the competition back in 99/00 to go to the World Club Cup.
Also the "magic of the cup" from back in the 60s, 70s, 80s and even 90s has totally gone except for the lower teams in the Premier League and the those in the lower leagues.

Never likely to see fringe players today, all of Benitez's build up notes we're talking about how important the cup is to liverpool plus we can't let our momentum slip with a cheap loss against a championship side.

Good result and really controlled the game 1st half. The positives were Stevie G's performance and reaction to recent events...first class. Cavalieri done ok in goals without being tested too much, Insua continues to look very composed and solid at left back whilst Aggers form I think is steadily improving. Alonso was again excellent for 45 minutes whilst Mascheranos form is getting nearer to his best again.
Negatives were Alonso's injury (hope its not too bad because without him we are unable to control possession near as effectively and give the ball away too much), Babels poor performance (beginning to doubt if this lad has the mentality to succeed at this level) and Robbies poor finishing.
I think it is vital that Alonso remains fit as he is the man making us tick this year. However the sight of him in a cast didn't look too good. Just hope its not a re-occurence of the dreaded metatarsal.

Very late into this thread had to Sky+ the match tonight and avoid text's, radio and Tv for the hour's the game was on until I got to watch in full myself. Am delighted that we will be in the draw tomorrow. Very good workout for the boys. Would have liked to have seen Robbie find the net and have put the tie out of sight in the 1st half.
I think Agger is continuing to impress and should have scored as well but he looks to have gained a lot of confidence going forward since his injury and maybe the best back line for the club will be with Agger and either Skertel/Hypia at CB and Carragher at RB.
Albert Riera is continuing to impress and with his ability to 'shoot on site' will hopefully get well into double figures for goals scored through the 2nd half of the season. Albert getting 15 goals could be the icing on the cake that would bring the title back to Anfield.
I do agree with every poster who has suggested that Babel was poor again but unless there is an exceptional offer coming in for him in January he should not be sold. With a lot of games to be played and us fighting on three fronts we are going to need lots of choices and options in the squad.
Yet again the support tonight from the Liverpool fans was exceptional. They 'bounced' they went down the 'Road' and sung every other LFC fan chant and could be heard so clearly on the Tv.
Our captain had another perfect performance and his unselfish pass for 'El Nino' who made up massive ground to be in the box with him was the perfect finish to the game.

Does anybody here remember the 'Likely Lads' and there efforts to avoid finding out the result of an England game before the highlights appeared on TV.
I realise I am likely to be giving away my generation :):)

Jamie Carragher is hoping Liverpool can mark the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy by celebrating FA Cup glory at the end of the season.
The Reds kick off their Cup campaign for this season at Preston this afternoon, hoping to take a first step along the way to a Wembley final at the end of May.
And with this year marking twenty years since 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives at an FA Cup tie at Hillsborough, Carragher admits there's an extra motivation for the players to land the famous trophy for the eighth time.
"It will be 20 years since Hillsborough, and that is something we are all obviously aware of," he said.
"Because of that there will be extra significance attached to the competition for us. Going on to win it would be the perfect tribute to those who died."
Despite having won the FA Cup twice since the turn of the millennium, Carragher admits he's been disappointed with Liverpool's record in the competition over recent years.
"We either seem to go all the way and win it, or get knocked out early," he added.
"We're never in the quarter-finals or semi-finals on a regular basis, which is what we should be doing.
"We do that in the Champions League nearly every year and have to start doing it in the FA Cup too."
