Hi, I'm looking for some advice I've noticed recently that my pc is running very slow and when I try to look at some videos on u tube it keeps stopping and starting spoiling the enjoyment, I wander if anyone out there can help me out as I'm not too well up on these things
How old is the PC? PCs tend to get clogged up with random programs you've installed over the years. A lot of them (such as Quicktime, MSN, itunes etc. are constantly running in the background slowing down your PC). First step would be to uninstall any programs you never use/don't want. If you do a ctrl-alt-del and look at the "process" tab in the Task Manager you can see exactly what processes are running. Pay particular attention to the "CPU" and "Mem Usage" columns. If you notice anything using a lot of memory you can end the process (check what it is first though. And don't end any "SYSTEM" processes). There's a way also to stop programs from automatically starting when you boot up your PC. Can't remember off the top of my head how to do it though. Maybe someone else here knows.
Download Spy Doctor and run it. That will sort out your problems. Well worth the €20 or so for the year. I dont work for them before you ask.
I would defragment the hard drive and then go to majorgeeks.com and download suitable programmes which are free and will solve the problem. After you go to the majorgeeks.com site you'll see lots of available free progs designed to deal with exactly your programme. Simple and easy to use programmes there and then it's just a case of heading to the Cold-Cut for a few beers to celebrate your new-found computer skills

When my computer slows down its usually because ive been looking at too much porn.......is someone doing the same?! I joke,i joke........seriously though i had the same problem before and as someone above suggested i usually look around for things ive installed and never use,long videos downloaded that i can just watch on youtube etc.this usually frees up alot of memory and my computers back running as normal now

In short : When memory is taken up on your computer, its is taken in blocks and odd blocks of free memory are left unused. After time, a lot of these blocks are left and memory starts to run out. When you defragment, the blocks of memory are re-arranged and the odd blocks of memory are grouped together to make a larger segement of free memory which makes you computer run better. That mans problem lies with Malware id imagine. As I said download and run Spy Doctor. That will tell you whats going on.
