to work harder you need time on the pitch, not 10 mins one week,20 mins another week,no game the week after, play him week in week out with torres missing now and you'll see a different player.

It could be more to do with training... Maybe Rafa dosen't see the same amount of effort there, than maybe what Reira or Kuyt or Keane. Would love to see him up front rather than on the wing and hopefully get the goals he craves.

i was thinking it was down to training myself, but when you know you're good and down the pecking order its hard to give 110% in training knowing your arse will be warming the bench come saturday,i think a proper run in the squad might change his attitude, now he might get the oppurtunity,i hope he takes it,i do rate him.

He came on v Chelsea and fightened the life out of them , then got a start V pompey in the next game .
Can anyone remember how he did that night as apart form the CC game V spurs he hasn't got a start since .
Plus any of the games he came on in since the chelsea game he hasn't made an impact.

To see the best of him he needs to get a run in the team .

if he cant get a game ahead of benayoun i'd be worried- maybe rafa thinks at the moment he is an impact player from the bench

IMO he is far too casual about everyting he does. He doesnt give the impression he'd give blood for the club. Rafa wants 100% everytime and he gets it from 7 or 8 every week. Babel is too inconsistent and I understand your argument that he will improve with time on the pitch, but he has had chances and hasnt taken them. Not in starting 11 again tonight.

In fairness, he has to start instead of Yossi. Hope this works or there'll be alot of angry posts later on....we'll see.

But when was the last time he made an impact from the bench. In europe he came on and looked as tho he wasn interested. Id like to see him on the right wing, move Kuyt up front.
When hes on the left hes always tryin to cut inside so on the right he can hug the touchline to give us width.
Id play him deffo instead of Yossi. Watch him tonight and he will end up wondering around the pitch and not stick to the wing.

After all saying this Yossi will get 3 assists from the wing, 2 goals and Babel will come off the bench play on the left and get 2. :D

I said in my post that 7 or 8 give it everything every week. The reason Yossi is playing tonight is simple - he will do what he is asked to do. I am not bashing Babel, I think he could be brilliant some day but I will always back Rafa, if he says he is not working hard enough, then thats the bottom line.

Babel needs to take a good long look at himself, the fact Riera and Yossi are picked ahead of him says it all, ability wise he is better than both of them.

    For what it's worth,

I thought he did OK for the few minutes he got on the pitch last night.

He's got an opportunity to compete for his place at the moment, with some of the other players not playing at their best etc, so lets hope he takes his chance and plays at top when he is picked.
