McClaren is such a tit I would really put Staunton a head of him he's that bad, I wish Gerrard would let go of this English thing I really do I would have to say Rafa has the final say not the player at the end of it Thank God we are lot stronger you have to give Rafa that he certainly laying the lawn

i know he want to play every game but i agree with you.
he is the club captain and he shouldn't be risking himself for england unless he is near 100%

If he can play at all it's obvious they're gonna play him. I wouldn't really blame Gerrard for wanting to play for his country and it's hard to blame McClaren either because it's a must win game for them. With Lampard out Gerrard is the only creative center midfield player they have. Just shows you the poor state of english football at the moment.

I don't blame him wanting to play for his country either but from a liverpool perspective theres a long season ahead and just masking the pain with an injection could work out worse for him if he was to take a knock on it.It would be back to square one again with that kind of fracture.

I personally think england would still be too strong for israel at wembley with or without gerard so he still might play but possibly only against russia?

this is what bugs me about gerrard, wanting to play for your country is sound, once your fit.but pushing yourself to play when your carrying an injury is a bit thick if you ask me.he has to be made realise that as capt. of liverpool with possably 60+ games this season were his responsabilites lay,and rafa should be putting the foot down.we pay him his 100+ grand a week wages not england.mc claren should be told were to go.......

Did Stevie sleep with your missus or something mate? Think in every post you've labelled our captain and most inspirational player a bellend or thick

I do agree that it is irresponsible of him to play if he is not 100% but you really seem to have it in for him big time

Hmmm it's a tough one with Stevie. From what I hear the toe is healed and he shouldn't be playing for another week. Lampard has two years on Gerrard and broke his toe pre-season and played every game for Chelsea. I really hope he's OK for Pompy away. Tough place to get a result.

he is passed fit so it looks like mcClown is going to play him. If he gets injured Rafa will go f*ckin ballistic. Gerrard's injury could get worse if he plays in both the Israel match tomorrow and Russia on Wednesday..

Don't think he would be able to play in both games

Reckon McClaren is banking on him playing tomorrow, winning the game for him and Fat Frank coming back for Wednesday's game

You're right though, Rafa will throw a wobbly for sure if he aggrevates the injury, not just with McLaren but with Stevie too

Presume few if any of you on this thread watched the full England game on sat.

Anyway, Gerrard was nowhere near 100%. He will probably play again on Wed and come back to Liverpool needing rest to repair damage (even further damage) to the injury.

Rafa needs to put his foot down once and for all. Gerrard is a lfc player and we pay his wages. He needs to stop sucking up to the southern, england loving, contingent.

Situations like this make me wonder even more how so many of our fans poor more praise in his direction than that of Carra.

    pidd5 has it 100% correct.

I bet Rafa wont play him against Pompey on Saturday morning. Two games in 4 days and then only a two day rest before sat mornins game.
Specially with Xabi not playin Wednesday now.
