Said I would start another thread as the other one is mainly about tickets.
Finnan is defo out which is a blow to the back four as he is our best right back..or even left back.
A draw would be alright depending on how we go out and play.
1-1
wobbly table as it stands.
PYD PTS
1 Germany 7 19
2 Czech Republic 7 14
3 Rep of Ireland 7 13
4 Slovakia 7 9
5 Wales 7 7
6 Cyprus 7 7
7 San Marino 7 0
No way would a draw do...What do you expect then from the Czech Rep?...I would rather a loss to the Slovaks and a win in Prague rather than two draws...In my opinion, we will be hard pressed to come runners up if we don't get maximum points, as once Germany is guaranteed a place, they will start dropping points, so we need to keep the pressure up...
Definitely need at least four points from this one to have any hope of qualification. And if we are to get four, we're probably looking at getting full points against Slovakia, which should be attainable judging by the results Germany and Czech Republic have already got in Bratislava. However, seeing as Ireland haven't won an away game of note against similar opposition for 20 years, I don't see us getting any more than a point from this one, which would be a bit of a disaster.

we definatly need 3points in Bratislava tonight, i'll finally start backing Stan if we do because he'l have led an irish team to qualifier victory on the road against a nation of note...more than what Kerr can say...C'mon IRELAND!!!!!!!!

Sorry to be the cold voice of realism in this but I shall be pleasantly surprised if we manage anything more than a draw against the Slovaks & a kick in the arse from the Czechs.

2-0 to slovakia tonight. We will draw in Prague
Sickener of a result in the end, but on the bright side we are still in with a shout. In the long run a draw could turn out to be a blessing, in so far as had we won tonight we might have played for a draw next Wednesday and ended up losing, but now we might play for a win and end up with a draw. can't beat optimism eh ;)

I agree what a Sickener but to be far a draw was probably the right result on the night.I cant believe Dunphy is still harping on about Keane,he needs to get over it and move on.
Dunne was super tonight.

Still gutted after last night. Wouldn't mind a trip to Austria and Switzerland in the summer. Match tickets all guaranteed, just need the boys in green to get there.
2-0 to slovakia tonight. We will draw in Prague
:o
All going to come down to the next game and hopefully we can show up and do ourselves proud, as said that was a sucker-punch at the end last night when it really looked like we had the 3 points, we just have to keep going strong!

After last nights performance, i cant see any future for the national team at the minute
The group of lads we have deserve a manager who can do the best for them and for us...Stan is tactically inept with the leadership qualities of an eight year old...i've said it since day one that he shouldn't be in charge...we've waited so long for talent like this to come along, and look what's happening...if he continues following these qualifiers, we'll never see a championship for years...

Gutted about last night. Can't say I'm surprised though. I do genuinely feel that we've got a good bunch of players and we would be doing much better with a competent manger at the helm.
The line-up baffled me last night. Where was Hunt? Why wasn't Kilbane playing at left back, where he's been playing all this season. Andy Reid should have been on the pitch. Its depressing to think that we can be outplayed by Slovakia.
Stan is out of his depth and needs to go. Theres not many options out there, but we need someone with some sort of a managerial background. Paul Jewell, maybe?

Why wasn't Kilbane playing at left back
why was he playing at all
we need a good world class midfielder
JOS should be dropped he is brutal
thing is with the premiership being so international now irish boys arent getting a chance

What world class midfielder would that be then? We don't have one, so its about using you what you have the right way. To try to get them to play above themselves. I can accept defeat against better opposition, but we really should be beating teams like Slovakia quite easily.

That excuse is too convenient, its the very excuse England are trying to use for their own failings, and sorry it just doesn't wash with me. We have the squad to be doing much better.

Oh wow, this really shows that 'the gaffaw' actually doesn't know what he is doing, i don't understand how he is still there, it baffles me, and shows what a failure the fai are.
2-1 up and he brings on Gibson and Douglas. I just don't understand it, Hunt and Reid on the bench and he uses his tactical mind to bring on those two!?!
Also John O'Shea is a disgrace, i hope he isn't even in the squad for the next game!
From the above posts I'm guessing Stan doesn't have the vote of IrishKop then ;) Had we not conceded that goal at the end I imagine Stan would have been receiving plenty praise but thats the way it goes I suppose. As someone once said, funny old game eh!

Not from where i am anyway, form is temporary etc., Stan clearly does not know what he is doing, had we won 2-1, i would have been happy with the victory but nothing else, it would take more than one game for me anyway to change my views on stan!

Not at all mate. Had we won, I'd of been as delighted as everybody else. But the way we played with such fear, just tells me that the players have no belief in Stan. So the point stands, of course had we won, or even showed that we deserved to win, we'd all be a lot less scathing!

Slovakia deserved at least a draw out of it, they passed the ball and went at us which was more than we could do
our midfield was nowhere, only of dunne's performance we would have been beaten
