Ok, so his main claim to fame is his long throwing, but i really think Trap should have given him an oul call up for this weeks friendly.

I know age isn't on his side, and not ideal to be calling up the old boys when you are trying to build a new team of youngsters, but he's a regular premiership player. There's several players from the championship in the squad, and lots more on premiership teams not getting a game, caleb folan, darren gibson, glenn whelan etc etc.

No harm as an addition to the squad but in my opinion he is only a squad player
Apart from his throws he doesnt seem to have much to his game and this showed against the manc s on sat

Too old and not good enough imo. To include him in the squad just because he has a great throw would be a sign of a desperate team clutching at straws.

and playing a Stoke substitute and Man U reserve player, both very young, as a central midfield partnership isn;t.? We are desperate and should clutch at all availbale straws imo

I understand we dont have a great pool off talent to choose from but with Trap as the new manager I think he should look to the future and give younger players their chance. At his peak, I didnt rate Delap so I dont think he deserves a recall now.

Not a hope. All he has is a throw. He was tripe when he was an international and still is imo

Would agree with this...to use delap, would require changing the set up of the team up front, somewhere where we've not much height...

As a regular premiership starter and based on performances he's a squad player for sure imo. Ireland should be under no illusions...were not too good for Delap's throw ins.

Would find nothing wrong with Delap on the bench and bring him on for last 5 minutes if we need a goal. His throw ins can be more effective then any cross.

Certainly more effective than any cross Damien Duff is capable of producing. How he takes the corners for both Club and Country is beyond me. He seems incapable of beating the first man. The difference when Hunt came on last night was very noticable

Ya i agree not one of Duffs best nights, still though if he brought his shooting boots could have had a hat trick in the 1st half alone. I have seen Hunt start a few games but never seems to do it from the start brings great energy when he comes off the bench for the last 20

He plays regular premiership football ... there are players in the 1st 11 that dont even do that.

I would have him in the squad, if your 2-nil down with 15mins to go, stick him on, play as many balls down the wing as possible, instruct the wingers if you cant beat the man and get the ball into the box .... play it off the defender and atleast win a throw!

For his height, Doyler is decent at getting his head on the end of things ... he would do well with a few long throws

Beckham has over 100 caps and all he can do was cross the ball.

Ah in fairness Beckham has a bit more than a cross. From dead balls he was/still is lethal in front of goal.

agree...but i do feel that our midfield (centre) needs a bit more expierence. gibson and whelan need to play along side an experienced player especially as their not regulars for their clubs..
