Liverpool have announced that Carlsberg will continue to sponsor the team
for a further 3 years, which runs until the 2009/2010 season.

Probably the best deal in the world!!!!:p

The statement from Rick Parry on the official site about the deal is a bit nancy. The fact that Carlsberg were going to cancel their sponsorship a few year after they signed a pitiful 5 million contract for 3 years sponsorship was ridiculous.

Rick shows again no one at the club up in the finance area have no backbone

I would imagine that we have got a good deal here with Carlsberg. I don't think the Americans would have signed off on this if it was not extremely fruitful. With the new TV contracts coming in there are more and more companies wanting to get involved so I imagine that Carlsberg must have upped the money for us to stay with them?

I agree this is not a good deal but it could be just that this is a stop gap so that when the new stadium is ready we can do a naming rights deal that would include shirt sponsorship and this was just the painless way out as the deal ends at the right time for the new stadium

The relationship has been built immensely there but there should a tinge of note after Houllier's time went belly up thats when Carlsberg made that offer back in 2003. Hopefully it is a large contract more money to help Rafa and the club as a whole

    Hi

Very fair points raised here mate, regarding the fact that the timing is likely to coincide with the opening of the new stadium, naming rights etc etc.

Funny, for some reason I thought this sponsorship with Carlsberg was renewed a few months ago and for some reason, had GBP£20m for 3-years on my mind ... am I confussing this with something else, or just having a Carlsberg moment like in the TV adds, where everythings perfect, well eh probably ;) ?

Dont think so. We could always gone with someone else as a higher bidder for 2-3 years if that we needed to.
No room for sentiment, me thinks.

But Im glad we are still with Carly.

    Funny,
While I don't like the actual beer, I think the brandname looks pretty good on the shirts, so glad also :)

Don't know anything about Carlsberg brands in America, but the coincidence of American owners, their existing sports franchises and a new stadium must offer huge commercial opportunity for LFC in the coming years.

I'd say after the new stadium is built, it will be time for those big boys to get bidding!.
