    Match Thread.

Second trip to mancland is a trip to Bolton. A win would put us back on top, and go into the next two league games at home in confident mood again.

    3 points is a must.

Bolton are a heap of shit bar Jussi, Taylor and Nolan. The latter 2are their 2 decent out field players. Maybe throw in Cahill as well.
The rest are crap though and we should batter them I believe. Jussi was back to his best last weekend againist Hull. If it wasn't for him Hull would have crushed them.

I expect the team will be something like this....

    ..................Reina..................

    Arbeloa...Carra....Agger...Aurelio

    Kuyt.....Gerrard...Masch.....Riera

    ............Keane....Torres...........

If we play 4-2-3-1 then Alonso will slot in and either Keane will drop out, dare I say a possibilty of Torres being on the bench. Perhaps Rafa doesn't want to rush Torres into a game where he'll have to fight and scrap with the Bolton thugs lol.

    0-2 Kuyt and Keane

Arbeloa misses this one....so it would be nice for Darby to get a run out,
but think Rafa might play Carra there with big sami coming in.

    Also alonso has to start

3rd, Urchins had a carve up with a couple of rochdale hillbillies....Tommy Mascherano @ 14/1 with PP to be MOTM.

Definitely wont be happy with anything less than 3 points from this one.I think Rafa will put out a proper side since he was resting some key players during the week.

    0-2....Fernando and Robbie to score.:D

Why on earth would he not field his strongest 11, the only touchy subject could be left back, not sure if i'd like Carra covering out there with Hyypia in the centre but i don't see many other options.

It'll probably be something like this:

    Reina
    Carra Hyypia Agger Aurelio

    Kuyt Alonso Gerrard Riera

    Keane Torres

I hope you're right. Because I really don't want to have to watch Degen at RB again.

Hyypia would be ideal against Bolton's slow but physical approach so I'd agree with the above team.

I've a feeling this will be a long hard-fought day at the office but 2-1 to the Reds

Darby should be given a game at right back , no way should our best centre half be played at right full, you would'nt see Vidic or Carvalihio been moved out of position, Reina, Darby Agger Carra Aurellio, Dirk Gerrard Maschereno Babel, Torres Robbie

The reason I put Babel in was he was outstanding in the Reebok 7 months ago and did have a decent game (Compared to the rest)last night.

100% agree about Darby, but can`t see Rafa starting him. Carra has played there a fair bit for us down the years. Its not his best position, but we know what were gona get from Carra.

So maybe start with Carra and if things go well bring Darby on for the last 15-20mins to give him some playing time.

This will be a real battle against the bruisers so Mascherano will start if fit.A game like this is made for him.
    Reina
    Darby Carra Agger Aurelio

    Mascherano Alonso

    Kuyt Riera

    Gerrard

    Keane/Torres

Would love to see Rafa give Darby a start but dont think he will, also think he will play Gerrard behind either Keane or Torres.
But as we all know its easier to pick the winning lottery numbers than predict Rafas team selection.

    Correct on so many levels!!!

Carra should not be placed at RB....

Babel should start, his pace and power will trouble the BW backline.

Should also go with a strong line up to get back to winning ways.

    2-0 to the Reds!!

Yeah you're probably right, we've seen agger and hyypia in action together very recently and the less said about it the better so it might be best to keep carra at centre back.
Tough choice for left full back with Arbeloa out, if Degen is fit he's more than likely going to play as i can't see Benitez pulling Darby up from the ressies at such a vital time.

I cant see why you're all leaving Alonso out of the side. I think he settles games for us and can pick a pass. With Masch battling in the centre, Alonso could use the ball to cut their defence to pieces. I think we need his composure in the middle. The RB slot is a concern alright, though I cant see Darby getting a start (though I would love to see it and wish the lad well). I think Carra could be used at RB with big Sami taking on Davis for aerial challenges etc... Not my preferred option but thats how I see it.

    I think it could be:

    ..............Reina
    Carra...Sami...Agger...Aurelio
    Kuyt...Mashc...Alonso...Riera
    ..............Gerrard
    ..............Torres

Thats how i think its gonna roll... and I think it'll be 2-1 to the pool.

Can't see the man who is potentially the most conservative manager in the world changing his system to play with three at the back.

i agree - and any time i hear of 3 at the back i get horrific flashbacks of the mid '90s with the ruddock/scales/babb triumverate and their calamitous season long marx-brothers impersonations. i think 4-4-2 with prob alonso dropped (altho a huge mistake - i think he should play every game when fit). i'd take a 2-0 here. have a feeling my old nemesis 'the diggler' will nick one here
