Quote from Westy on official site: "I Dont know what peoples view are on here about Yossi, however he is coming to Liverpool in the next couple of days, its a done deal!!
will he make a good addition??"

Don't know if anyone has seen this on the official site, could be another load of rubbish but this guy "westy" (unfortunate name) seems to be relatively ok and has said that the Benayoun deal is done....

Whether it is or not, what would you think if we did sign him? IMHO it would be a good capture for the club as he is a talented footballer and works hard.

Depends how much we pay for him. If its 4million as reported or under I'd say its a clever buy, add a bit of depth to the wide areas and a good link between midfield and forwards. Don't see him as a regular first teamer though.

On another note its on the BBC sport website that We are in talks about bringing Torres to Anfield......at least its from a good source, they usually post up accurate news.

Getting little bit excited now with a big signing finally looking imminent.

Mal agree with you, the price is the big thing for me, getting him for somewhere around that figure than its a grand addition but nothing much higher than that!

He is a handy little talented player, give him a season see how he gets on!

In all honesty i think Benayoun is an average player, im sure he does work hard but is that good enough ?? i dont think he is of the quality that we should be looking for !

He will bring a bit more creativity to the team in the last third which we sadly lack and for all of Gerrards great attributes sometimes doesn't break other teams last line of the defence with his runs and benayoun has a hadbit of doing that.

Look at what he did to Ireland when we played them in the qualifying for the last World Cup. Rafa is fond of him he was a target for him while at Valencia some Guillem Balague has said.

    Better than what we had

The reason i think Benayoun would be an asset is that he is better than what we had last year. Not in the centre but out wide or as a link man between midfield and attack...

I would have been happier to see Benayoun playin instead of Zenden or Gonzalez or Pennant for a lot of the season... Think he will improve the squad and that is what we need. For 4m we should go for it

Is he going to improve the starting 11 is the key question for me. Is he better than Kewell (if fit), Garcia, Riise, Pennant? Fair enough he may improve the squad but I would like to see Rafa buy 3 "starters" so that when we play the like of Man U & Chelsea we know what team he will put out as his strongest 11 is clear and not a case of well 6/7 of them a good and we just have to make do with the rest. I would be happy with Torres & Villa plus whatever winger Rafa feels is best for the way he wants to play (Simao?) and not buy any squad players.

I don't think he is being bought to improve Rafa's best 11 (when all fit) I also don't think Pennant will be in that team if everyone is fit... Kewell, Gerrard, Mascherano and Alonso would be our first midfield if all were fit

So I think Benayoun is being bought as a squad player to fight it out with Pennant, Garcia, Kewell and hopefully another winger coming in

4m to improve the squad... money well spent in my opinion

Who is he better than do you feel of the possible wide midfielders we have?
Garcia,Gonzalez,Kewell,Pennant,Riise,Aurelio. I am not saying he is not a decent player but he has to be in the top 3 on that list to make sense to me and I'm not sure that he is.

    My 2 cents worth.

Is gonzalez been sold or what is the story there? After the champions league final Rafa said they had agreed a fee with Real Betis for him

We'll probably keep him then. Rafa should loan him and paletta out to some lower premiership teams to get climatised to the way of football in the premiership. Paletta needs it anyway.

I think that Kewell and Garcia are better than Benayoun but they were both out for nearly the whole of last season.... Also I am not too sure about Pennant even though he did well towards the end of the season. Don't think it would be bad thing having Benayoun, Kewell, Pennant and Garcia all fighting for places...

Aurelio and Riise are both right backs for me, not midfielders

For me Yossi is very similar to Garcia - both can show some talent in bursts or at random intervals but are far too inconsistent to be worth a place in the starting line up. Both are useful squad players to have though and can possibly turn a match coming off the bench. I would only sign him if we have to use Garcia as bait to get Torres. He is not the answer to the left winger issue - we would need to sign someone like Mancini or Simao in addition.

from what i've seen of Benayoun he's no worse than anything at the Club at the mo(Kewell,Garcia,Pennant,Gonzalez) in my opinion.i'd probably put Garcia ahead of him purely cos of the amount of Goals he scores.
to be honest i'd be disappointed if he did sign cos for me it'd look like Lpool are settling for second best again.
it's no secret i'm a big Nakamura fan,i'd have him over Benayoun any day.....
