Thought it was more like us on sunday stopping Chelsea the 87th in a row myself (and if it wasn't, it sure seemed like it)

Couldnt care less about this now.....Rafa should just send out any old bunch, but make sure Torres gets some match practice. Babel should also get a look in. Riera needs a break. Diggler needs a break. F**k it, I NEED A BREAK!

Siamo could be a target for us come January.

    It would be important for us to show him what he is missing......{and then Jamie can kick the legs off him}

Jamie has to start, if not for his confidence then at least for being preferential to Arbeloa at CB:eek:

    I would hazard

    -----------------------------REINA----------------------------------------

    ------Arbeloa----------CarrAgger--------------------------------Dossena

    ----------------------------Mascherano-----------------------------

    ------Benny-----------------Gerrard----------------------------Babel

    -------------------N'Gog--------------Torres--------------------------

Keane, and Diggler and Alonso and Riera need rests. Plain as.

    are you serious?
each to their own but i think that's a ridiculous statement.
they've 7 Points from 3 Games, they need to Win at least 1 more Game to advance to the Knockout Stage...

Yes, I made that comment in haste after the Spurs game.

Still, I think we can escape by playing Torres and N'Gog- Keane, Riera, Alonso and Kuyt all MUST REST.

Babel, N'Gog, Gerrard, Torres....if there isnt a goal in there I dont know where there is!

In fact. Drop N'Gog and play Lucas, might take the strain off Steven.

Bollocks to that anyway! All four of them will surely be key members of the team on Tuesday night. Rafa isn't gonna go fannying about resting the likes of these against a team like Athletico Madrid, in the European Cup of all competitions. And its four days before West Brom come to our patch so not like we'll need to rest them all so far away from the next game.

Thats one way to look at it. I call it the Giles method. Go 2-0 up and then when the "game is won" make your changes.

For ****s sake tho, somebody give Diggler the NIGHT OFF.

Interesting to see how the plebs treat our boys this Tuesday night in the buildup.

Will we get credit for Chelsea and Pompey, or are we as good as our last game only??

So do I. Sunday and Monday do not seem enuff for Riera, the dude looked jaded. So did Dirk......maybe we could cut a deal and just leave those two out, and play Keane and Alonso, but Mascherano has to get a rest then.

Damn I am glad I am not Rafa:eek:

a few need to rest alright but our CL squad doesnt help. surely el zhar and sami would play had they been selected for the squad. we need to field a strong side(because the alternatives are poor) and try to put the game to bed quicky.

I say put out strongest team get us 3 in front then take off the players you feel need a rest.

We need three points simple as and i dont want to be going into the last two games needing them..

Beat Atletico and we are home and dry, so I can see your logic, but this is a critical moment in our season, so a lot has to be got right on the night, and I cannot see changes not being made. I am almost sure now that Lucas will come in and so will Pennant, Babel and Torres.

In fact, I will put forward my final team for Atletico as being

    -----------------------------REINA------------------------------------

    -----Arbeloa------------CarrAgger------------------------------Aurelio

    ------Pennant--------Lucas----------Gerrard--------------------Babel

    --------------------Keane-------------Torres--------------------------

No more supposition, I am sure thats how it will pan out!

    Atletico Plans

Atlético to travel to Liverpool on Monday and train at Anfield in the evening

The expedition of Atlético de Madrid will take off for Liverpool on Monday 3 November at 11:00 am. The charter flight will take off from T3 at Barajas Airport and is scheduled to land in England at 12:15 pm (local time). The players and the coaching staff will head directly to Hotel Marriot Liverpool, where the team will be staying.

After th habitual ‘siesta’, the team will travel to Anfield to get a read on the pitch on which they will take on the squad directed by Rafa Benítez. At 6:30 pm, Javier Aguirre and one footballer from the ‘rojiblancos’ will appear before the media, and at 7 pm their training session will begin.

For their part, Liverpool will train on Monday at 10:30 am, in Melwood, their normal training grounds, and Rafa Benítez, accompanied by a footballer from the ‘Reds’, will hold a press conference at 1:15 pm in Anfield.

id play maschrano ahead of lucas, i don't think he is up to speed yet and needs more gametime. and we'll probably play 4-4-2 against West Brom and alonso is in pole position for the midfield spot alongside stevie g.

Tony Barrett, who writes for the Liverpool Echo, says he saw Javier recently and that the lad is ABSOLUTELY shattered. Totally bushed.

I know Lucas is lightweight, but there is nothing light about the Pompey lads and he did okay in there.

I think he might be better suited to playing against the likes of Simao and pals than the WBA lot.

I know I am repeating myself, but if I could put Dirk, Keane, Riera, Alonso, Mascherano and Gerrard into a deep sleep from now till Saturday I would.:(
