Drives me nuts. Plays well for Celtic (and I dont just mean against the likes of Patrick Thistle). I dont think he ever brings any consistancy to the Ireland games. Personally I wouldnt start him as much as Stan/Trapps have done. I have a feeling he is a love him or hate him type of player. I dont want to say I hate him because I wish him to do well but he drives me mad doing the hard things right and the easy things wrong!?
No end product! What a load of crap, wont even dignify that with a respone Granted he has lacked consistency for Ireland but bear in mind that only Dunne and Given have played well for Ireland over the past 2 years McGeady looked very good against Cyprus and will be Irelands main player over the couse of the campaign
the 10 million price tag on his head is a joke, dont really rate him,i think the level he's playing at now is as good as it gets.
I have a strong feeling that McGeady will come good. His performances for Ireland has shown a marked improvement every time he plays, Trappatoni is no dozer, he sees the potential McGeady has and I hope he goes on to fulfil this for Ireland.
Wouldnt disagree with Trapps knowing talent when he see's it. Is it possible he is the best of whats there at the moment?
It would be close between him and Stephen Hunt for that position at the minute, but in the long run McGeady will come to the fore. If Stephen Ireland was available he would also be vying for the right wing berth, Trap wouldnt play him as a central midfielder.
To be honest I dont watch Celtic play too often, so I wouldnt be up with the full dossier of his skills. But what I see is a very skillful young player that has a hell of a lot to learn also. Some of the ball skills he does playing in Ireland shirts has not been done in years (come on we had the like of Kilbane on the wing before this) however, Kilbane may have contributed as much in many games. My problems with this guy is: A) he cant tackle reasonably well (McGeady very clumbsy in this department.....gave away some very stupid free kicks when we were under pressure in the Cyprus match) and B) seems to be horrendously one-footed, often with the opportunity to cross or get in an early ball, but seeks to bring it back on his right foot every time. But he is only young, and he works pretty hard what I seen of him, so im sure he will improve. Not many young players are not frustrating in one way or another, Ryan Babel often makes similar mistakes and frustrates too. Where his career takes him will depend on how well all the work comes together, he has great potential.
I think McGeady will be a v good player, I think he should learn his trade with Celtic for a few more seasons and then come to the Premiership but I certainly think he's going to come good.
Seems to be a poor mans Ronaldo to me,, Hope he improves we could really do with a top playmaker at international level
lightweight, knocked off the ball to easy, no defensive qualities, poor final ball but he does draw extra defenders to him, can beat his man. I dont watch Celtic but from what I've seen when hes played for Ireland I'd say hes in the right league. Decent player but nothing special.
Hard to decide on McGeady especially since he plays in the Scottish League he only gets to play against decent opposition couple of times a year vs Rangers and however long they last in the CL really need to see him in the premiership so he can show what he is really made of
McGeady is a decent footballer with a few tricks, but not at the top level. Shaun Maloney was the best player in Scotland for two years, he came down to the Premiership and done very little. He was too lightweight and knocked off the ball easily. I think McGeady is similar. I would have him in the Ireland team though and I think if he stays fit he will be a key player, but not a top Premiership player any day soon.
I think thats kind of what Im getting at. If he is not premiership quality then should he be in the starting 11? I know Doyle and Hunt (and others) are not in the PL but we all know they can mix it up week to week in the PL. Maybe its because he is a bigger fish at Celtic? He shows it for Celtic all over the park at times but when he is deployed to pick up the ball, beat the man and make the cross he makes a meal of it. Haggis!!!
In response to what some of yous are saying 1. Poor mans Ronaldo - well over the past year nearly every player fits under this heading 2. 'I dont watch celtic but I seen him for Ireland a few times' - well if you judged Robbie keane on this criteria over the same period you would have to say he was rubbish 3. No end product - his ability to beat his man and get in a cross is excellent, he sets up countless goals for celtic, champions league included Don't just knock him cos he plays in scotland and if you have only watched him play for a poor Ireland team you havent seen him enough to judge He is certainly not world class but he is much better that what some of yous are saying
