Alot of focus has understandably been on the great start made by the new signings, especially for the much needed flair they bring to the side, but I am really impressed by what I have seen of Pennant this season. He has really setted up to the plate, and its great to hear him saying how settled he feels.I think we will see some great things from him this season

Yeh agree think he has been arguably our best player in the PL so far.

Played even better on the left against Derby, plus Babel seems 10 times more comfortable on the right (naturaly enough).

Excellent start for Pennant, and I think he did well in 2nd half of last season. He now believes he will beat the full back every time. He is exactly what england need, and deserves to be on the first team ahead of beckham, dyer and lennon.

Great call.......JP has been our best player so far this season IMO. He rarely loses the ball now and his deliveries from either side are second to none. I said it when we signed him he was the best crosser of the ball in the league and I stand by my word. He seems to be playing high on confidence and his attitude is top notch from what I can see contraty to what the doubters said when we signed him.

Another thing is how is he not in the England squad??? A joke, especially with Beckham injured, Stevie possibly out and Lennon who hasnt played this year yet all gone? Hope they fu*k up now 'cos of MaClarens ignorance, and as for calling up the Hesk just cos Angel Michael says so!? I won't even get into that one!

    rant over......

Delighted for JP, and love the way he takes on and leaves defenders for dead. Great delivery coming into his play too, something I think he lacked last season. Complete rubbish from McClaren not calling him up, and I think this will be highlighted even more by the English media in the next week when England will fail to get two wins against Israel and Russia.

Thought he was our best player on Sat before he went off. His confidence is sky high at the moment and he seems to have calmed down a bit off the pitch as well (unlike Bellamy). I think coming to Liverpool has done him the world of good and after a season to settle in he now feels like he belongs and is good enough to play at the highest level. I'd say Arsene is beginning to regret letting him go.

Possibly our best player so far. Great to see him play so well on saturday on the left, crossing just as effectively with his left foot as he did with his right

It's a joke that Bently and Young have made the squad yet Pennant has been ommitted. Ridiculous. Pennant regulary plays for a top four side and is currently playing very well. It should be a no brainer.

Great start to the season by jp, hope he gets the chance to carry on the good work. Was a thing of beauty watching him fleece ashley cole last season. Maclaren must be mad

Jermaine is a belter so far this season, long may it last.
Last year lots of us were arguing over the merits of himself and bellamy, and most thought that the craigster would be the one out of the two to succeed, s fair play Mr. Pennant.

I honestly thought last season he was just the same as Bellamy!! I really didnt rate him!! Temperment for me is key to a good footballer!! Bellamys contribution I felt was not what we wanted and I felt Jermaine was not up to the mark either!! Hes made me eat my words and I delighted to! Fair play to him!!
