I think this will be a great fight. I take joe to win on points but it will be tight. what are your opinions.

I'd love to see joe win this one, points decision would do just fine. Joe can take a punch, he has a great jaw unlike alot of opponents that Jnr has faced.

I hope someone ends Calzaghe's reign, his a pompous arsebandit. He hasn't been challenged really in the ten years he reigned the top dog in the middleweight division. He has avoided Roy Jones Jr. for years now and finally the promoters came together to a few years to late.

Exactly. then jones jnr would have had a better chance then he does now, as it stands calzaghe is a very good fighter and a good chin, he isnt the most exciting fighter in the world, but he gets the job done, this will defo go all the way and be decided on points i think.

Nonsense. Calzaghe is the smartest fighter the planet has known for some time. Look what Hopkins just did to Pavlik.....Joe will beat Roy and then who knows....probably rematch Hopkins and retire that ass.

Can't agree with this at all. He was ducked by Collins and then annihilated Eubank, beat everyone put in front of him including a very promising Jeff lacey and Kessler and beat Hopkins last time out. He was looking for Roy Jones Jr for years also.

I dont think he was looking for Jones for years mate.
Truth be known, jones had bigger fish to fry and was busy winning title in different weight divisions where all the big fighters are. Over in the states. I find it amazing that Calzone's fight against Hopkins was his first fight even in the US.
He was a typical Frank Warren fighter for many years, protected against any real major threat so he could keep his title.
eubanks was way past it when Calzaghe beat him. Kessler is probably his biggest test to date, and Calzaghe was unable to hurt a 43 year old Hopkins who actually KO'ed Calzone.
Styles make fights, and as a mate of mine pointed out to me last night. Pavlik beat taylor twice, Taylor beat Hopkins then Hopkins beats Pavlik. It does not necessarily mean Calzaghe would beat Pavlik, although I do believe PAvlik was exposed as a somewhat one dimensional fighter last night.
As someone else pointed out in this thread, this fight should have been at least 5 years ago. He will get no cudos from me for beating Jones who is a shadow of his former self.

i dont understand the joe bashing,he is unbeaten and comes across as a decent skin albeit in the ring he is cocky(wouldnt you be if no one could beat you).
its not his fault that jones wouldnt come near him in his prime, and its common knowledge that jones was offered the fight on numerous occasions and for various reasons turned it down(could be to do with his not travelling for fights after his olympic experience)

Calzaghe has answered every question asked of him, then it was kessler wasnt as good as we thought, eubank was passed it and bhop was too old and lacy was awful. Then Bhop handles pavlik(who we were told joe was afraid of) and its still no credit for Calzaghe.
Bit of credit where its due,he beats whats put in front of him and will retire unbeaten.
Dont give me the slapping or cockiness as the reason for not liking him, wasnt Ali the cockest fcuker going?
Joe has amazing handspeed and the ability to change his tactics mid fight and is one of the greats.

Don't agree with this either, the Hopkins Calzaghe fight was going to happena few times only for Hopkins never to sign up. Jones is past it now and Calzaghe should win this.

There had been talk of him fighting Pavilik next but thats probably not going to happen now after Saturday..

Pavlik was bloody awful, a yankee hype job. I always said Arthur Abraham would whip him. And Joe Cal is a legend.:D

The one fight i would like to see is calzaghe v carl froch. Froch has called out joe for the past 2 years but there isnt enough money in boxing for this to happen. I think joe could take him but i dont think he would risk it at this stage of his career. Its a pity coz it makes for a brilliant fight.

I can't stand Calzaghe , Hopkins should have beaten him when they last met, I've been watching Roy Jones Jr for a few months now with his interviews he looks like he's changed a lot personality wise, He looks like he's gonna eat him for breakfast.
I expect Calzaghe to be knocked out in the 8th round.

Calzaghe can't win this fight it Roy Jones fight. i expect to see the same anti-climax we got with HAtton Kahn and Bernard Dunne.

Would love to see him win tho...

Looking forward to it Myself, its hard to call I loved Jones in his day but he went a bit too far in his career. In saying that I don't dislike Calzaghe, he's shown great stuff against Lacy, Kessler & Hopkins although some people might disagree

HBO do a great build up programme called 24/7, they did it for DelaHoya & Hattons fight against Mayweather.

Here's a link to the Calzaghe Jones build up, there's two episodes already

Can`t wait for this one, think its time Calzaghe was put in his place, great figher but can`t stand the man. would love Jones to knock him out, but maybe this fight has come to late for Roy, hopefully not and we see a good fight.
