I have read bits and pieces on different forums like Teamtalk and Skysports about the English national team and it seems there is a lot of English people that don't and won't support their national team, why is this???

Maybe there is some English people on this site that could explain it??

I know we all had a bit of a p*** and moan when Stan was manager but by in large we remained as fans.

Im not hitting out at these people, its there own decision, I just find it hard to see why you would support your country!!!!

to be honest i have no interest in international football whatsoever thats just me , for me its liverpool first and foremost nothing else matters , i only ever watch internationals to see how our lads are getting on and make sure they dont get injured. nearly all my mates in liverpool i go the match with have no interest whatsoever in the national team partly because of the ****ing idiots that follow england , the bull in the media and its just not important to follow them , they could never bring themselves to shout for a team containing so many mancs and chavs its just not right .

As I am from England, I did support England, and did go to several games, wembley, and my first away game was to Dublin, so thats why I am here Because, I came here to watch England play. its a long story.......still here...

but seeing how much trouble england fans caused, i was put off, mind you during world cup, many years ago, i went into a pub in parkgate street, wearing my england gear, and was hung upside down by my feet by my scarf, in the sportmans rest, now eamonn ray's, I think I deserved it tho, all harmless fun, they let me down after a while,

I am totally committed to Liverpool, and dont really support England or Ireland for that matter, tho I do like to see them both do well. in particular when our lads are playing in internationals.

Thats the key to it isnt it.
I think most redmen want to see our lads do well no matter what happens in international matches. Like whenever theres an international tournament I hate the hype that comes with the english team but love to see the Liverpool players play well and score and hope that one of the mancs or chelsea lads are the villan of the inevitable exit.

Though theres a different feeling around the Irish team in the last few years theres nothing like the interest and high that comes with following the team in an international tournament.

That said Id swap it all for a successful Liverpool team every time.

I dont think there should be International Friendlys, there a waste of time. The Major tournements on the other hand is great, Like the world cup. Great buzz about our country when we are in these major tournements. They should abolish friendlys

    LOL .
    This is funny .
First you came for a game and stayed.
Second you where hung upside down by you feet.
    I know you didn't mean to but you've given me a good laugh.Thanks . :)

Internationals dont do much for me either .
Scotland V Norway is on Tv now but I cant be bothered to watch,
having said that I wouldnt mind watching the Argies tonight .

Allways watch/go to Ireland matches but it doesn't give me the feeling I get watching/going to see the Reds.

Obviously I like to see Ireland do well but I would be far more pissed off about Liverpool dropping points to stoke than Ireland failing to qualify. The national team is not something I lose too much sleep over.

In-gur-land fans are just something else though! The vast majority are vile scum.Completely different mentality and outlook to Liverpool fans-scousers are just a totally different breed-they are sound.ingerland fans are fickle southern *******s.

the rule with international games is that you leave your club loyalty at home when you go to them,i never went to an irish game when that manc bsatard keane played, had offers of tickets but no way would i chant that ****s name, but english fans are a disgrace, they chant when things are going well but the club comes out of them when things aint so good,a fickle bunch led by their spastic media imo.stay away and let proper english fans attend is what i say,im a liverpool fan and thats it,let the irish supporter have my ticket.

most international football fans are clueless and just like jumping on a bandwagon, and booing is not just done by England supporters, has also been done in lansdowne and croke park directed at Irish players, managers and at oposition players by the celtic supporting biggots !

Not really arsed about International Football to be honest nothing come close to Liverpool

England fans always seem to take it to another level when horanging players or coaches, beckham got it,keegan got it,but if they win a few matches there on the trumpets playing the great escape.....I would follow england, ireland, scotland, wales and N.Iron but would take more of an intrest in how a liverpool player was playing in them teams..the 5-1 win agaist germany all liverpool players scored and when Ireland beat the dutch trigger bagged a goal...

Im not overly a big fan of internationals either, bar tournaments when the top of the top are playing. But i would always try to watch the ireland matches of course, just to keep in the know!

Im only living in England less than a year, but here is
my opinions of why English people don't follow England:

    1. Because of the rough element that follows them, basically people like what visited landsdowne road and wrecked it, and also people who wouldn't be into violence and antics like this, but would still be of the disgusting lager lout mentality. I live in a pretty quiet suburb in Birmingham, which rarely has any troubles in bars except when England are playing, then its full of scum who are walking around pissed up looking for fights with anyone and their dog. So I know most of the regulars from these bars would not want to be associated with this type of supporter.

    2. The press. They are just so full of Sh1t that anyone with any sense knows that they are only a decent team, not a world class team, and that the press are the biggest shower of back stabbing, twisted two faced self promoters going.

    3. The fans of Man U, Liverpool Aresnal etc, already pay top dollar following their clubs in UK and across the seas in European competition season in/season out. Many of the traveling fans who follow england would be supporters of teams from lower divisions, who don't get the chance to go over seas to follow their teams. This is why they get so bitter and angry when the the stars that the muck tabloid press have built up to be scoring 22 goals in the first half against Andorra or whoever.
