The man seems very happy to me, always one of the first to congratulate his team-mates when they score.
If you think he looks miserable, then lets hope he is as big a hit as our other so called miserable looking player.

I'd be unhappy too if I only scored 2 goals against Derby....

I had him as my captain yesterday for my Fantasy Football team and he made me very happy

Gerrard didnt seam too happy in the crowd either but no doubt that was probably coz he wasn't getting in on the scoring. Lots of players don't smile don't mean they're not happy :) Well 6-0 makes my day/week and month so im happy

Fernando Torres: “It is as if we are like a small family”

The Liverpool striker confirms to ‘Onda Cero’ that he is happy with the team’s start to the season and life at his new club

Fernando Torres spoke to Spanish radio station ‘Onda Cero’ in an exclusive live interview on the sports programme ‘Al Primer Toque’ (‘One Touch Football’). The striker analysed with the presenter his first experiences at the Anfield club.

With two wins and a draw in the Premiership, and one foot in the group stages of the Champions League, the striker is happy with the team’s start. “We have got off to a good start, which is key. It is important to pick up points early on as some teams have not yet hit top gear. Here at Liverpool everyone wants to win the Premier League. It has been 17 years since the club last won the title and it was very important to start the season as well as we have.”

The Spanish international has played in many top stadiums around the world, but he was extremely impressed with his first taste of football at Anfield, the atmosphere in and around the stadiums and the football culture. The striker also knows that in England the style of football is very different. “The noise was incredible. There is plenty of physical contact here in the Premiership and you have to stand up and fight your own battles. I am adapting to football here as quick as possible and my team-mates had warned me before of what to expect, so it has not come as a shock. I believe we deserved more from the Chelsea game, though I feel we put in a good performance against a tough team.”

In the short time he has been at Liverpool, Torres has noted several differences between the style of refereeing in England and Spain. “Referees in the Premier League behave differently than those in Spain. They talk to you more out on the pitch and also explain the reasons behind their decisions. It has to be said though that the players here make life easier for the referee because in Spain we are quick to surround the referee. The chance of a referee in Spain apologising after making a mistake is unthinkable, but that does happen here, he accepts he has made a mistake and apologises.”

The Spanish international has also seen how special his compatriot, Rafa Benitez, is to the fans, and the special relationship he has with all the squad. “Rafa is the boss and he is always on top of things. We are a tight group and we all have breakfast and lunch together at the Melwood training ground. It is as if we are like a small family. The have the same relationship with the boss as we do with say a team-mate or a physio. It is nice to know that the manager is there for you. The fans see Benitez in the same light, or even more so, than the players. The supporters chant his name and really admire him.”

“The club made a special effort to bring me here and the boss has asked me to respond to the Club’s backing, and also the faith that the fans have put in me. There is plenty of confidence around and the manager is making my adapting process here easier. Rafa also talks to me a lot, especially when I first arrived because of the language barrier. As a matter of fact he talks to all the players and is close to the team. It is safe to say that here the manager has a different role than in Spain.”

The forward is adapting quickly to life at Liverpool and is very happy with the progress made. “The settling in process has been easier than I imagined. When you join a new group of players you never know what you might find, but everything has gone really well. The main players here are the ones who are first to welcome you and they also always have time for you. We all share the same goals and objectives and your team-mates all want you to settle in as soon as possible because it takes a lot off your mind and helps you to perform better. I am surprised at how well I have been treated by everybody here.”

Torres is happy with life at the club. “Things are different, the players spend more time together than they do in Spain. We also take turns on different tables when it comes to meals, one day you could be sat with the Spanish speakers, and the next day on a table with another group of players. It is as if we were working normal office hours. We spend all morning at the training ground and don’t get home until after lunch.”

Since his arrival Torres has been compared to some the Liverpool greats. “Here they remember their legends and heroes at the games and the fans carry banners with their names. When I arrived, I was told about these players, and it is an honour that the fans also chant your name alongside Liverpool legends.”

Nice one for posting the article James.

I couldn't care less about how happy or unhappy looks - as long as he keeps putting in these kind of performances then I'll be very happy, and thats all that counts... :p:D
