    aka Wigan Athletic. Match Thread.

Bit of a while before the game takes place, but even so, it's about time we beat that manc cut for a change. He's got 3 draws in his last 3 visits here.

And I hope whoever comes in to replace Skrtel doesn't allow Titus Bramble the opportunity to shoot from the edge of our box again....

I'm also heading to this one.

Confident we will win but I always dread these type of games all the same.

If we score early we could win 3-0, but if it gets to half-time at 0-0 you start to worry a bit...

Watched them on sat on livefooty they seemed to batter boro for 90 mins and then WHAMMO..........If we approach this game as an all or nothing(like i hope we approach every league)game, then we are far better in every dept than them i think we'll take them.A lot depends on what way broken nose lines up his formation,if its similair to stoke(we were unlucky not to break them down thanks ref you prcik)it could be nervous viewing.Plus they have that zaki and he could be seriously dangerous on the break unlike stoke who offered nothing in that dept.

Heading to this one too. Wigan are a well organised decent side and with the international break causing a break in focus we have to be careful and on our game. So any sort of a win, preformance or otherwise so we get right back into the swing of things to start a very important week.

Its Bruce and his annual trip to Anfield with his 0-9-1 formation, normally its 0-10-0 but with Zaki they have a very clinical finisher up top this season so he'll be allowed out of the defesive third.

I just hope to God Rafa has figured out a way to beat this system seeing how he sees it so much at Anfield these days, personally instead of trying to play football across the front of them, Torres and Keane are both decent in the air just bomb the box once we get one Wigan have to come out and then we can revert to playing football as we have seen all last season its near impossible to play football through a brick wall so kick it over it instead.

an early goal and we could win this 3 or 4 nil but Zaki will be a threat. They looked impressive againt Boro but some poor finishing and bad luck cost them 3 points, we need to be winning these games though

we got the biggest monkey off our back already this season when we beat the scum - so lets beat ol' red nose's minion now and it sets up the chelsea game nicely. i'd take 2-0 - just hoping we dont get any freak injuries on international duty

Hoping Agger will be up to the pace of the game from the off. I'd be a little worried that if he's rusty at all that zaki could give him a tough match.

I still think we should have too much for wigan....heading over to this one so hopefully we get a hat full of goals from the redmen.

they have a few good players , they seem to have a lot of non english players there ,we should win , lets hope emile does not come back to haunt us , if sami plays we could be in trouble ,he will bully sami into mistakes ,

Normally I might be able to see Rafa playing Sami, but with it coming only a few days before a high profile Champs league game where Sami is ineligible to play, it would be total madness if Rafa didn't pick Agger assuming he is fit after the internationals (fingers crossed). Assuming he is ok we should hopefully be able to take care of Wigan although they are looking pretty decent this season.

A tough match is what Agger needs, remember their is a certain Mr. Aguero on his way to Anfield who is on fire at the moment, he's not the type of player you want to be marking having had two doddle warm up games. If Zaki runs Agger around the pitch its the perfect preparation for him. The harder the better.

I can see Rafa using Hypia in the league, especially at Anfield. It'll be interesting to see but I reckon thats what he might do. I remember thinking when they played in Liege Rafa was disgusted with Agger for hooofing the ball up and out of play. Maybe theres something more to it but it'll be interesting as Rafa might be forced to play him now - sooner than he thought

Hopefully we dont have a repeat of what happened last season. Personally i cant see that happening as the team finally seem to realise we cant take the foot off the gas against these sort of teams. Fair enough the Stoke game, but we did have a dissalowed goal.
