In the light heavyweight main event, former two-division world champion Dan Henderson will collide with former UFC middleweight king Rich Franklin in three-round war which will set the tone for the 205lbs division in 2009. Then, 2005 PRIDE® Grand Prix Champion Mauricio “Shogun†Rua returns to the Octagon™ to throw down with UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman in a rematch MMA fans thought they would never see. The pair last met in Japan in 2006, with the legendary Coleman pulling off a stunning upset by breaking Rua’s arm in the first round. “Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson is a battle between two great former champions who are both looking to get another chance to wear a world title around their waist,†said Dana White, UFC President. “Franklin is the former UFC Middleweight champion, and he’s a dangerous striker with solid submission skills – he also showed great takedown defense in his September destruction of powerful wrestler Matt Hamill. Dan Henderson is the former PRIDE Welterweight and Middleweight champion. He’s a world class wrestler, known for his great chin and his one punch knockout power. He defeated formidable Brazilian submission specialist Rousimar Palhares in September. These are two fan favorites with a lot of pride on the line as they want to show that they are still among the very best fighters in the world.†"We are delighted to be returning to the Emerald Isle again, especially with such blockbuster main and co-main events,†said Marshall Zelaznik, UFC UK Division President. “The O2-Dublin is a fantastic venue that will create a memorable UFC experience. After smashing box office records in Belfast in June 2007, we promised our Irish fans we would be coming to Dublin, and now on January 17 the world’s most exciting live sports experience travels across the Irish Sea - we know this will be a great night for our fans.†Ticket on-sale date and purchase information for UFC 93 will be announced shortly got to get me a ticket, fastest rising sport at the moment.
Great News about the show and its live on ppv i think,be great to show off the new point. Anyone see Slice getting destroyed at the weekend.
matt hughes vs matt serra rumoured to be on the card, anyone who follows tuf will be looking foward to that one.kimbo is a clown, glad he got whooped.
kimbo slice the you tube guy has signed up with afflication and was meant to fight ken shamrock but ended up getting knocked out in 14 seconds by a stand in called Seth Petruzelli. This joke of a guy's 15mins are up,he made his name as a street fighter on you tube. Anyone got an idea what price to expect for the ufc tickets. Its a really good line up for Dublin
just watched it there, he didn't last long did he!! he was meant to fight ken shamrock, would of loved to have seen that fight. here's the link to the kimbo fight if someones looking it.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5ZxpbtcC8A
Tickets on sale next Tue for this (unless you're a member of the fanclub), prices range from €50 to €250 plus €6.25 booking fee per ticket (robbing b*****ds)
Just watched that "fight" there. Really dont see the attraction to this sport. Even when the fight lasts longer than 10 seconds it normally descends into grappling on the ground. How anyone would pay €250 for a ticket is beyond me.
this guy is the reason to follow mma paddser http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XecriszeD6g&feature=related or him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eQaPdw6D3Q&feature=related or him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0Qr5b2mzxg fight card in dublin looks weak,am a bit disappointed in it tbh but im told some of the match ups a pretty even so could be a good night.
Watched Bisping and Leibing last night. Leibing aint entertaining any more since he lost his craziness. Its like he got a personality transplant.
ufc with bisping was poor over the weekend, not a great card. Would love to see gsp here. Mary hannigan's piece in the tv sports section of the times is terrible today.
