    Match Thread

14:00 GMT, 15:00 local. Game NOT live on tv.

The first of the 4 league trips to mancland, should provide another indication of how strong our title ambitions are. We have an indifferent record at their new stadium, having not won since 2005, but this year, we'll have an extra day's rest on City, so will hopefully be able to use it to our advantage.

Extra days rest might be useful, but dont think it will really be a factor, as you cant compare PSV with Nicosea really, and both teams are at home.

We should be playing for a win here from the start, will be interesting to see Rafas tactics for this one. Wigan played a very high tempo, keep the ball moving style game in the first half against city and reaped the rewards, but I cant see us doing the same, we will look to keep it tighter. Hopefully Richard Dunne wont have as annoyingly good of a performance like he did in last years 0-0 in the same fixture.

Yeah i also don't think the extra day will be a factor.

We'll have to be close to, or at our best to dominate City the way we did Everton.

But if we defend well as per usual, then City will eventually get impatient and leave gaps at the back. Elano, Petrov, Ireland, Robinho, Jo, Wright-philips.... They've so many attacking players, perhaps too many. They're vulnerable to counter-attacks and that will suit us down to the ground.

    I'll go with City-0 v Liverpool-2

We have to go for the win in all fairness..

City are arguably more creative than us in the midfield department at the moment, Ireland is having a very good season, and Elano likes to pull the strings..

However, neither of them are too physical, and this is an area we can really exploit.

Masch, Kuyt to start, the game is ideal for both.

Me thinks Rafa will go down the 4-5-1 avenue in this game, leaving Torres alone up front.

But personally, I'd love to see us play 2 up top, give the City reargaurd plenty to think about!

It was originally scheduled for Setanta at 3pm Saturday but City are in the Uefa cup tonight so it got moved to Sunday and won't be on TV now as far as I know.

Pity coz it'll be a good game

Disapointed its not on the box. Maybe online somewhere? We need to go for the kill with this one as I think the Mancs or Chavs will lose points this weekend

The Chavs are most likely against Villa imo if all their newly acquired injuries are to be believed i.e. Terry and Alex added to Deco/Cole/Essien/Drogba and for the richest club in the world their squad isnt exactly overflowing with quality replacements to cover that many injuries.

If the Mancs drop points as well a win is essential if we are to seriously challenge for the title, obvious I know, but how many times have the Mancs and Chavs dropped points and instead of capitalising we do the exact same.

Watching the City-Nicoseia game at the moment..

Apart from a 15 minute spell where City played well and scored 2 goals, they're really not up to much..

Physically is where this match will be won, City will likely have Petrov back, and with Ireland, Robinho & Elano likely starters we need to really get stuck in.

Kuyt, Im sure, will start if not for his offensive qualities, but for the amount of work he'll put in down the right wing. Negating Petrov is vital.
Masch to bury anything in the centre, and hoping Aurelio & Riera can contain Robinho.

It'll be a tough game away, but one if we're serious challengers, we must win!

I would imagine the Woolshed will be showing this one, I'll have a quick look at their weekend fixture list when I'm passing it tomorrow and see what the story is.

Every game is shown there, the Albanian pan-satellite one was used for non-UK tv games last year. But we all got crash courses in Albanian for 15 minutes at half time, every time it was on. :D

The fundamental problem is the Submarine's location, off the beaten track. Woolshed however is central, and accessible to everyone in Dublin.

As we’ve seen this week (injuries to key players for both Chelsea and Man u) we don’t know what is around the corner, so it is vital that we keep picking up maximum points up while our team and squad are fully fit.

With the injuries to key players for both Chelsea and Man u , hopefully they’ll drop a few points just like the gunners last week, this game and the next few could give us a chance to create a gap at the top, hopefully we take the chance with both hands.

Well i think i would be right in saying that we dropped a ridiculous 2 points here last year after domindating the game (and possibly hitting the woodwork a few times too).
I think they've got a strong squad and Hughes has given them the steel they never had under Erikcsson but they're still only an average squad in my eyes. I think that Jo up front will cause problems with his strenght and Robinho will be a handful but with Gerrard, Alonso and Masch in the middle we should have the majority of possesion.
Most likely gonna see Keane dropped for this one unless we really need a goal towards the 60/70 minute mark. Torres will be closely watched by Dunne but i don't think its possible for dunne to live with his pace for 90 minutes.

All that being said i still reckon I'd be more than happy with a scrappy 0-1 out of this one.
