Dont see a thread up already for this, so here it goes! Liverpool welcome PSV Eindhoven to Anfield on Wednesday @ 19.45. After a good result on the road to Marseille, and another big win on saturday against cross town rivals Everton, Liverpool will be going into the game in confident mood. Steven Gerard acknowledges that its a big game that we need to remain focused for, with another potentially big clash on Sunday versus Man. City. There is no team news up yet, id expect Liverpool to be quite similar to Saturdays line up, maybe with Mascherano being rested up again to give his calf injury a full chance to heal, but what do I know?
Well lads i've got a funny feeling that the infamous rafa tinkering is going to rare its ugly head again tommorrow. Not that i think he really has much of a choice in it considering the amount of big games we've had recently although i don't think Saturday would have taken too much out of any of the lads. Maybe babel might get a start tommorrow night with Gerrard and Alonso probably running the midfield again!
Well ihope he makes changes cos as far as im concerned the league is priority this season.I want to see the fittest and best 11 out sunday, not tomorrow nite.We have enough quality to deal with PSV by making 1 or 2 changes,a win tomorrow nite were asgood as qualified,a draws not the end of the world.I reckon 9 pts il get out of the group.
That would be my thinking on it too. Let's give Agger and Hyypia a game, as well as one or two others. The Man City game is priority and our "fringe" players are still good enough to beat PSV anyway
Agger says he is keen to stay and fight for his place. Good to hear: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_4218065,00.html
I'd love to see agger play left full he is great passer of the ball and great going forward as well as strong in the tackle. That with the fact that Dossena's positional play is decidely dodgy he should be given a chance there. I think he has played there before as well if I'm not mistaken although I don't think for Liverpool
You may have a point. But it's unusual to hear someone say they WANT Rafa to play a player out of position
given rafa's comments about him needing to improve tactically i thing Riera will start ALOT of games this season. Would love to see him start though.
Mascherano wants to win the champions league, and also is wary of leaving his medals in liverpool, wonder if thats because of the burglars?
Hyypia is not in the squad I would like to see Agger and Babel get a run out alright though. Hopefully keep the impressive performances up. As far as I know yossi and mash are back fit so they might get the nod.
Can anyone recommend a spot around town that i could watch this and get some decent grub, apparently the missus is insisting on the food if we're going to watch the match.
The Reds XI in full is: Reina, Arbeloa, Aurelio, Carragher, Skrtel, Gerrard, Alonso, Riera, Kuyt, Keane, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Dossena, Agger, Mascherano, Babel, Benayoun, Lucas.
