Or O'Doherty as he is called, I came across an article guys from the the Liverpool Echo. The article is from ages ago and Tony Barrett a season-ticket holder you writes his blog there was saying some things about this guy and article he wrote in the Irish Indepenent about Liverpool fans and scousers in general pretty awful piece to read. He works for the Irish Independent his the article: http://www.tonybarrett.merseyblogs.co.uk/2007/06/him_again.html
a lot of people were very annoyed about his comments but i think the general consensus was to just ignore him.after the first article a lot of people voiced their anger but it just added fuel to IOD's fire and he came back with more insults a few days later
Hi Sadly, this muppet has written some pretty nasty and untrue things about LFC fans in recent times - infact, to the extent I've stopped buying the Independent or the Herald (it's sister paper) and would encourage all other Pool fans to do the same ! He's a muppet, trying to get attention for himself !
Already done it a while ago as I felt it was takin a tabloid route. Only buy the times now at weekends as it has a great sports supplement. Times main paper is a bit too focused on English issues for my interests. Miss the Sunday Indepent news section, but sure what have you. By the way not sure I entirely agree with blanket bans on papers/companies etc (apart from the s*n of course) cos im unsure where it will end, and if the real point ends up being missed
Yea, I hear where your coming from mate, though ultimately the way I see it is most of these are in business to make money and if they want my money, they need to keep their staff etc under control .... otherwise, they ain't getting my money & the more of us who take this attitude, the more these businesses with either learn their lesson, or fold !
Yea, i suppose the best way is a well informed letter to an editor pointing out the stupidity of royalin about 30% (i guess) of the sport loving population.
Didn't a number of our fellow members recently write to the Editor complaining about this moran and not even get a reply ? .... just think, if newspaper sales fall enough, they will have to let him go as won't be able to pay poor Ian's salary anymore !
Hi Everyone Just a quick note to ask you all to avoid temptation here and not write offensive comments against this guy .... regardless of what we think of this guy, we must try and maintain decent standards here at the site. Don't buy the Indo !
Agreed. Take the high moral ground. We are better than this. Id boycot the indo, but they still get it at home. I wont spoil it for them there ( life-long fianna failers). But we better be careful. If the times write bad stuff about us Dont know what ill do. I wrote to editor as well, compared their "rag" to the sun. Didnt get any reply either
I wrote also and got 'published', hang on my ego just left the room. Not in favour of boycotts generally speaking, other than the obvious. Just to point out full strength Press Council now in place, appointed during the week. Rational, well argued complaints should be directed there.
Hi mate got more details on this, such as where to contact them, what they will investigate and what action they can take etc ? thanks
www.presscouncil.ie I'm not sure if they will address a retrospective issue like 'our friend' in the indo. Hey G...kids haven't been around enough to help figure out this interweb link thingy...see Oxygen thread...useless oulfella!!!!!!!!
Just to add a bit more on the Press Council. It is reported that they will not actually start work until late October / November this year. As I understand it a complaint is first directed to the Press Ombudsman and if the complainant is not satisfied with the outcom the matter can be referred to the Press Council for consideration. If the PC find against the publication they will be compelled to publish an apology / retraction and if they fail to to respond they will be 'named & shamed' by the PC.
