This is showing in Sky 1 at the mo. last episode next week. anyone else watching it?? its been great so far. the first 3 episodes were filmed in LA, Sofia (bulgaria) and tonights 1 was in Belize city in central america. Last episode next week is in kenya, looks crazy over there. the LA episode was in compton, unbelievable how manys gangs are in that area. The Bulgaria episode about the gypise's, wasn't that great imo. tonights 1 in belize city was a decent 1. the city is a stop off for columbian drug cartels. glad i dont live in any of these countries tbh and limerick.... :D joking..... ;)

Hi Mate
Yea, I've been watching it on & off, not bad though I do find myself wondering if he's really meeting the headers, or just actors pretending half the time - I know the show's won an award, but come on, most of the stuff Sky produces win's an award from someone or other.
I had actually heard somewhere (seriously) that he was looking to do an episode in Dublin, lets hope this never happens .. last thing we want is that kind of bad press, if you ask me.

I know what you mean, its a decent show, but the fact its on sky it doesnt focus too much on facts at times and kind of glosses over some issues/doesnt have alot of depth. Having said that, if you had an interest in any of the subjects you could do your own research. Though saying that, its a good show, and entertaining.
The roma gypsies one was very good.
He wouldnt have the balls to do it in Limerick.
The Brother has been following this series and has been telling me about it. Ive never actually watched it, Ive seen the adds for it though.. It looks ok. Just my luck last episode next week. lol

just looking at wikipedia about this show and episode 4 of this series was originally sceduled to be about liverpool. its about the street gangs of Norris Green. this was the reason given for not showing it "For legal reasons, broadcast of this programme has been delayed until the outcome of the Rhys Jones murder trial". the kenya episode was put in instead. this was originally meant to be a 90-minute special.

Its a great program. Read the book too. Hes either brave, stupid or pays the people he talks to for their interview cos hes dealing with seriously fcuked up people who could easily just kil him, his camera men and whoever else just for asking the wrong question....crazy *******!

I seen previous ones and one stuck in my mind .
i think it was south africa (not sure) but it was a prision where the gang leader was allowed take an imate to be his "bitch" untill he got sick of him, and wanted someone else . The prision gaurd basically said on camera this was to keep the peace within the prision!!!
What about the guys he was picking ????????
Could not believe it .
You'd have to end it to get out of that .

As I said previously, I really hope this never happens - we don't need any bad press, thanks.

Yeah that Glue thing was one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen on TV. Really shocking. I think he is doing another special on them next week, which to be quite honest I dont know if I could watch.
In fairness to Kemp, when I heard he was going to do these shows I thought it would be muck, especially with it being on Sky, but its not bad. Its well produced and does explain alot of stuff in very general terms without going into too much depth which I guess is the protocol for Sky TV. Its a good show.

the liverpool episode that was delayed due to "legal reasons, broadcast of this programme has been delayed until the outcome of the Rhys Jones murder trial" is on tomorrow night at 10pm. well worth the watch imo.

Yeah it was fairly tame, although interview with the reformed dude was fairly intense.

The "hard men" these days are only living off the reputations of their fathers grandfathers etc. Ive seen it when you stand up to one of them all they say is do you know who I am, my family etc. Feck all the little scumbags, waste of sperm

Missed it last night, watching it now and I don't really think it deserves the title "gangs", it seems like a few teens who can't say why they don't like the people across the road but they just do!
Yeah ok some of the stories are horrible but in comparison to his other programmes it's no where near as bad. Most of his other documentaries really make me open my eyes to drug cultures around the world  but this one seems more like a documantary on ASBO's...

Yeah, why are you fighting the other gang?
Cos their w*nkers.............which of course when your about 16 is a legit reason, but for a tv show.....probably not enough! And they reckoned there was only about 25 in each gang, thats like saying Westport has a gang problem when two bus load of farmers come in from two different parishes to go to the night club!

Thats how I saw it also .... the fact that half the programme was filled with things such as inserts from "Grant" in London, speaking with a politician, clips from the '80s etc all show it was not able to fill an episode it was so weak.
Mind you, in the next breath, I'm glad really ...
Some of the kids interviewed made fools of themselves, they were unable to even answer questions with sensible responses, just repeated the same short answers, or slagged off the other gang time and time again ... made themselves look stupid (which they probably are, getting involved in that kind fo stuff) !

To an extent that's true and I've no doubt, he was a dangerous fuk in his time, probably still is if you mess with him no matter how much he's telling us all he now turns the other cheek, rather than carry a gun etc etc. Mind you, if he's being honest in trying to get others to stop the violence etc, then thats positive alright.
However, I thought in his effort to try and use lots of big words, he made a bit of a plonker of himself in the interview as they were far from natural and followed at the end of every sentence by "yea". Looked a bit like he was trying to model himself on the movie with Vinny Jones ( Lock, Stock ..... ) or something.

How many times did Kemp say "these are intelligent, smart kids" or something to that effect..........eeehh no their not!!

Yeah i wasnt too convinced by his casual smug holier than thou outlook either .It was hard feel for a guy who has a past like him who cant carry a gun to protect himself because hes an anti gun campaigner!
