shud be looking at 3pts here with a 3/4-0 win to really push on - their only weapon seems to be the long throw in - sami in from start to curb that threat.

why not follow up one statement of intent with another and play our strongest possible team,i hope he does that but with rafa you never know,i watched them today against everton and they shouldnt pose much threat with the exception of the delap throw in lol.i would like to see robbie get off the mark in this one.

Lets go out lads and put these to the sword. Just mince them completly. Get a couple of goals under our belts. 3points is a must.

    come on the redmen

We must win this one - simple as that. No good getting a great win like we did yesterday and then drawing or dare I say it losing:eek: this one to the likes of Stoke. Its vital that we keep the momentum going after beating the Mancs. We have an opportunity to get ahead of the Mancs as they face Chelsea.

That said it should be a handy enough game and we should get the 3 points no probs.

It's a huge match. If Chelsea slip up against united next week (Draw would do fine) then we can finish the weekend top of the league. Beating United was great but we have to keep winning. I think it'll be difficult to break them down coz they'll just put everyone behind the ball but we should come out on top. It's live on setanta at 3pm for anyone who didn't know...

Really thought Stoke would beat the bluesh*te the other day, fair play to Rory Delap, he's been a one trick pony all his career and is showing no signs of stopping now. Remember the 'goal' he scored from a throw in for Ireland- was disallowed cos it didnt touch anyone...

But seriously, we'd want to get at least four against them, a statement of intent. A goal or two for the new lads would be nice. Would like to see Riera and Babel both playing but not sure how they'd fit in...

The Sly guys were right when they said it will be very interesting to see what team Rafa puts out next weekend.

I would have all the big guns out without exception to bury Stoke as a sign of our intensions. Id have Babel playing in the CL and stick Riera back in as he look fairly decent Saturday for his first match against the enemy and showed flashes of the type of tricky play Kewell had in his Leeds days and looks like a proper winger and Stoke are the perfect team for him to run rings around.

We don't need to be top of the league next weekend, we need to be there after 38 weekends. Want Chelsea to run rings around the scum next weekend. Then they can start losing.

As for us, Stoke will be an awkward test, they'll put 10 men behind the ball, and they'll be dangerous from set pieces. 1-0 will do if needs be. Although wouldn't mind a repeat of 8-0 from the last game. :D

As for me, if the game isn't on S. Irl. will have to go out to watch it again.

Chelsea win or a draw, it's good for us either way, as long as the Mancs dont win.

Our match is on "Setanta Sports 1" according to their website so you might be heading out alright

Nothing like an early goal in a game like this.....

If we get one early on, it'll be a massacre!!!

Looking for Riera & Babel both to start in the wide positions, and Ive a funny feeling that Rafa may rest Gerrard for this one, with Masch & Alonso in the middle.

Keane & Torres up front, with a solid usual backline.

    Lets rip 'em apart!!!

Does anybody know any good pubs in Birmingham city centre to watch the game flying over Saturday morning. I'll go to the pub and send her shopping everybody's happy

We should win this one handy although that long throw is fairly hard to defend against so I can see them scoring at least one maybe about 3-1

This won't be as easy as Derby last year. Stoke are a strong willed team and with the power-bomb throw of Delap can cause us a few problems. Anything more than a 2 or 3-0 win is a bonus. It is hard to face promoted teams early on in the season as we seen with Sheffield Utd, Crystal Palace and Birmingham in recent years.

Early goals make a huge difference in these kind of games. An early goal and it could be a real hiding. But, in theory, if Stoke managed to get to half-time at nil-nil it could be a long afternoon.

But with the form we are in I'd expect an early goal, so 4-0 to Liverpool.

Yeah if we are 0-0 at half time, I hope we keep plugging away and dont get too frustrated too early, but we have been scoring late goals lately, so the lads should still be confident if it is scoreless at halftime.
Hope we get an early one so we can maybe relax a little, but we cant relax on only 1 goal, as those throw ins could cause chaos at any stage of the game. Our work rate really impressed last Saturday, and there should be no reason not expect the same thing this Saturday.

Hopefully a 3-0 win, but as long as we win, I will be a happy buachaill.

This has to be 3 points, start with the strongest team available, get ahead and then make your subs but Rafa will probably do the opposite, should win 2-0 or 3-0
