Gordan looks like a great keeper,he may be the only chance Sunderland have of staying up.

i hope its not a broken rib but even if he misses the toulouse and derby games, his next game wouldn't be until the 15th thanks to his international retirement
We'll be stretched at the back with sami if he can't play because of that broken nose...

Sami would play with a broken leg....we should be covered
that nose won't stop him

If worst comes to worst we will play three at the back against Toulouse with riise and pennant maybe acting as wing backs with 3 in the centre sissoko/alonso/mascherano as def-mid two of the 3 then have benayoun as the flair player in the whole with Crouch and Kuyt up front
what do ya think with arbeloa, finnan and dagger as the 3 centre backs

I'm just been practical in the circumstances we're in with Carra and Hyypia going to be out for the Toulouse and possibly Derby, tell me who will play centre back with Agger in a 4-4-2, Alonso maybe but other than that we have inexperienced backup in Jack Hobbs. But we will wait and see what happens.

Would have said straight swap and bring Palletta in but he's buggered off back to Argentina, Hobbs is a prospect but as you say inexperienced, Antwi for me looks good but is on loan and injured, still I'd go for inexperience over a formation that provides no width and a potential to leave gaps in front of or behind midfield. The last thing we want to do is invite Toulouse on to us.

Sorry for being negitve, but taught Xabi was very poor yesterday. Why have Mascherano on the beach and not play him. I understand with Tuesday's game and all being worth big money to get through . But the Prem' is what we all want first and foremost. 38 CUP FINALS. Each and every league game is more important than any other game this year. I would have Xabi off after 60 mins. I not knocking Xabi as we know what a good player he is. But nobody should be aloud stroll through games. Look at the front 2's workrate yesterday. Torres and Voronin where magnificent. Xabi didn't work half as much as those two.

Too right, great to see us getting off to such a good start and set ourselves up nicely for the rest of the campaign. I'm starting to get a really good feeling about this season...

Hands up everyone who has a first goalscorer docket worth anything...lol.
Don't agree that Xabi didn't work as hard as anyone else, but I am concerned about his poor form...getting caught in possesion in dangerous areas and some really loose passing.
As to Masch, I guess Rafa is gtiving him as long as he can to get properly recovered from his summer exertions.
Was a little concerned that we didn't kill the game much earlier although without Gordon it would have been 4 or 5.

Momo was magic on Saturday. Hes finally fully fit and we're seeing the best of him now.
It was a handy win in all fairness. Sunderland are garbage and were shown up for what they are. 4-0 would of been a fair reflection on the game and I cant help but feel that someone is going to be on the end of a hiding very soon.
It was another good performance too and Pennant has been quality for the past few matches. I dont think he gets the praise he deserves. I also really like the look of Babel. He'll be a star

A lot of people were waxing lyrical about momo preseason. Nice to see their faith vindicated. The goal was the icing, but i thought he commanded (albeit against a poor side) the midfield and his passes were tight and compact. Reminded me of a certain corkman.

Look slike I'm the only one not excited about Babel yet- I don't think he worked enough for the team so far in games- I haven't seen him beat men on the outside enough for eg- I'm just expecting him to progress slowly and show something perhaps at the end of this season or even next season. Apart from the ball he put in from the right against Chelsea I feel he has just been there to get up to speed & find his feet etc.
Far from excited yet but I expect him to progress throughout the season.

the passing is the big thing for me. it has improved alot this season, last season he gave the ball away too much.
he would break up play really well then give the ball away

I'm with you in so far as I haven't been overly impressed but I have seen enough to be confident he will be a very good signing. I think he has the raw materials - quick, direct, hits the ball with some power and he is a lot bigger physically than I thought before we signed him
I thought during his first few games he looked unfit / uninterested but he is starting to show some form now and I expect a lot of him as he integrates into the team more over the coming weeks / months - still not sure what his best position is though
