http://resources.zdnet.co.uk/speedtest/ I have eircom 3Mb broadband and have done the test above. The 3 test results I did where only , 2144 2056 and 2160 . Would this be the normal speed for 3mb or should I get on to them ? As always , thanks in advance for any help given .
you will never really get the full 3megs.. as other people will be sharing the same line (if its through cable) and there will be always losses through wireless. Its a pretty good speed though mate.
That's a good speed in fairness. I've the same package at my apartment and the top speeds I ever get are around 2Mb max.
im on 20mb i tink and the last readings i done on it were! 9679 kb/s 9757 kb/s 14497 kb/s 16763 kb/s 15237 kb/s 19035 kb/s 11922 kb/s 11728 kb/s 11828 kb/s 2847 kb/s 9894 kb/s 16703 kb/s 2727 kb/s 9849 kb/s 4993 kb/s 4909 kb/s 5080 kb/s 7890 kb/s 4292 kb/s 4051 kb/s 4355 kb/s
Again thanks lads. Im a bit of an idiot when it come to this . 20mb !! Some of those readings where less than my 2mb!!! Is the 20mb for home use or business?
20 megs are available on upc if your a cust go to http://www.upc.ie/contact/upgradebroadband/ and fill the form out but you have to sign up to another 12 months if you do this and also if your using the netgear router provided sometimes the speeds will varie as it was not designed to take 20 megs you would possibly need to buy a new router that can take that speed
by the way the 20 meg is the same price as the 6 meg and if your on the 3 meg you can get 10 megs for the same price id nearly recommend going for the ten for those who use the netgear router and are on the ultra pack (20 megs) for reasons stated above
hey is anyone on here using BT broadband?mines been really slow all weekend like it barely opens up pages yet the speedtester says i have 2500 kbps but the net is going slow....should i just ring them up?
Im using BTbroadband and im having the same problem. My phone line is 10metres away and i use an extension phone cable. I wonder is this the problem.
I signed up for 24mb BT broadband recently but have only managed 5.5mb at most. Checked my broadband status stats and it says max line rate of 6454mb. I know there a few factors that reduce the amount you get down the line but is this telling me my line isn't capable of anywhere near 24mb??
if your using wireless then connect it (the pc or laptop) directly to the modem if possible temporarily and go to www.speedtest.net and click the gold pyramid . thats your server and will tell you what your getting if your getting anything less that 20mb ring your isp. also turn off all torrents or p2p if there on. let us know what speed ya get
Sound jaza, did all of that and tested 3 or 4 times, still not getting above 5500kbps Latest test 4991 kb/s download 407 kb/s upload, ping 61 ms.
yeah man you need to get onto the isp there something going on there. there still good speeds though but not what your paying for. that site is fairly accurate aswell
