Dunno if there are any poker players here, but thought I'd post this up for anyone who doesn't know about it. Played it last year, and sounds 10 times better this year. Fantastic value for an amateur to get that "big tournie" buzz BoylePoker link - clicky! Boards thread - clicky! Anyone from here already reg'd / going?

You should mate. I played it last year and really enjoyed it. I don't play as much as I'd like to these days (with recently buying a house / upcoming wedding) but I won't miss this. For €150, and what's more a €15 reg, you won't find anything of this level of organisation for the money imho. Great buzz all in all - love to see a pool fan win it
Taken from pokerireland.ie. Actually just looked at this now and think last year the levels were 1 hour. Now they're 40 minutes. That said you're talking a starting stack of 10k, so there should be a good bit of play. Last year it started at 12pm and I lasted until 7.30pm. I wasn't dealt a premium pair once in that period of time (got JJ's once, a pair of 99's my highest other pair, AKo twice and AQ/AJ a few times). I didn't sit there though and wait to be blinded off. So I got reasonable value for my buyin (regarding amount of play). Given the decrease of 20 minutes in level times it'll be interesting to see the differences. I was going to play it last year but was busy that weekend,I may well play this one I also taught it was one hour blinds. But sure what can you do.
Last year they suffered from inexperience, and so two areas were poor: 1). Dealers. A lot of them were trained for a cpl of hours and thrown into the deep end. Some dealers were slow or couldn't count. Apparently at one table a dealer would call clock on a guy if he was taking too long (lol ). 2). They suffered as well from having too many people on day one. It was over 1050 people they were trying to accomodate, and so the room was packed with tables on top of each other in places, and some tables had to self deal early on as they simply couldn't get dealers. This year both those problems should be solved with the promise of professional dealers, and also the first day split into two days of 600 fields. Should be good.
Sorry for the late reply Dub13, was at Electric Picnic. Yup, I registered early - in July. I wanted to make sure I'd play
Yup, I did Dub13 as above. Sounds like I'm the only one from here Shame you didn't get in there. Would be nice to meet a few irishkop folk at it. Can't wait now. 2 weeks to go
How did you get on...?a mate played but he did not get past day 1.I could not play as I was at the Wigan game.
