Hi Think i asked this question before but could never get it sorted. Right,i have an xbox360 I want to play it on my pc monitor. Problem is that my monitor has no built in speakers. I can however connect the xbox to the monitor via a VGA connection but there is no sound. The only option is to somehow branch the sound directly from the xbox to my portable speakers.The only way i could do that is by connecting the little green headed cable,the input on the speakers,into the xbox but theres no audio output on the xbox to connect it to Is there something you can mod or even buy to connect the speakers to the xbox or kust any other way around it ?? Thanks...
I take it that VGA the lead for the 360, and the leads on both monitors have Male VGA 15 pin connectors? In that case, you need a Female to Female VGA adaptor. Available from Argos for 4.99. As to your sound problem, you will need a PC soundcard lead (the one with the headphone jack to two male RCA plugs), and a Female to Female phono adaptor to join the lead to the RCS connectors on the 360, and then plug the headphone jack into your soundcards 'Line In' socket' Expect to pay about 4 euros for these.
Right,i think i understand what your saying lol Sorry,not great with computors. The VGA thing is grand,im getting video,just no sound.With the xbox you get a HD cable so i bought the VGA thing to put on the end of the HD cable and put that into my monitor. Thats great,il try pick thme up soon cheers mate

I've got a relatively ugly, but very cheap, solution for you Get this - $1.17 and this - $1.56 And you'll have everything you need for less than €2 delivered [bit technical] The Audio splitters intended use to split one headphone source into 2, whatever you put into the cable goes out to the two outputs, it does this by connecting the two outputs directly to the same places of the input. Because the two outputs are connected to the same place they in turn are connected. If you in put your ipod into one of the outputs and put your headphones into the other you will hear the music. I've tested that just now and it worked fine. [/bit technical] So you plug the red and white cable from your xboxs VGA lead into the first thing i linked to Plug that into the second thing i linked to and plug your the green headed wire from your speakers into the second thing as well and you'll be laughing. Now only thing is those lads are slow. If you ordered today you would not get it untill end of next week (maybe). If your in a major panic for it send me a pm, I have the stuff and i could definitly live without it for a couple of weeks while i was waiting on new ones. EDIT: BTW can you plug that green headed wire out of the back of the speakers? Cause if you can you could just buy the first thing i linked to, attach it to the red and white of the xbox lead and plug into straight into the speaker
Alright mate,i dont have the red and white VGA lead from the xbox.What i have is the HD cable that came with the xbox,one end in the xbox and the other end into a VGA adaptor which is this ... And that plugs straight into my monitor.Thats giving me the video but no sound obviously because theres no speakers on my monitor but if there was then id get sound. So,do i have to buy the VGA cable your on about or is there anyway around it with what i have ? And btw,i dont 100% understand what you said,when you plug the 1st link you mentioned into the jack splitter,and then the speakers green headed wire into the second output thingy and your left with the single thingy...where do you plug that into ? Or do just leave that ? And no! Unfortunately that wire doesnt come out! Wel it could if i tried ! And thanks on your offer,but your grand! The old man is getting sick of me playing it on the tv in the sitting room though ! Doesnt undertsnad the significance of playing Halo and Fifa on a HD screen !
Ok i follow you now! Just to let you know that a DVI connection (not trying to be a smart ass with the pic but it'll help later on) EDIT: left is VGA, right is DVI right-eo I can think of 2 ways of doing this. Microsoft are a shower of C U Next TuesdayS and purposely placed the HDMI output close enough to the regular video cable out put that you cant have both plugged in at the same time. They want you to spend €50 on some special adapter the lets you (funk that!) So here are your options: 1. Buy the cable im talking about. Here @ $12 delivered . If your monitor only accepts DVI your going to have to buy an adapter for it @ $2 delivered. 2. The much more fun way hack your standard video cable casing off. Then use the red and white cable from the standard video for sound. Here's a link confirming that this works Both ways your going to have to do what i was sayin in my other post. To answer your question about the splitter, the male end is just left loose as shown in the picture. You can click the picture to make it bigger
Haa Haa mate i went into harvey normans and bought a splitter for 10euro and this thing,see pic attached. I couldnt find the other thing you were on about but the thing in the pic is lethal!! I plug the red and white cable into the 2 phono coupler and my green headed speaker jack in the other side,although it doesnt fit perfectly but it works ! it cost 6 euro but its much neater and tidier. Thanks for your help mate,i wasnt going off and ignoring your help btw mate! If they had what you said to buy i would have bought it but he told me to go to Peats in Blanch and i just seen that and thought it might work!Phew
Glad you got sorted If your only getting sound out of one speaker you'll have to get yourself the thing i have(the first thing i linked to), but i'm sure it'll do for a while anyways! Should have mentioned this earlier but if you have a stereo near by you can hook the red and white cables into the Aux port of it, thats what i do when using the monitor
Yeah thank god i got it sorted ! No,im getting sound outta both but its not great,the coupler isnt 3.5mm but i think you can buy an adaptor for it to make it fit... And yeah thats a good idea with the stereo!! All good in da hood ! Cheers man.
