Anyone else see Bernard in action tonight? He played a very tactical game against a good Argentinian boxer without getting involved in a brawl. He's certainly come a long way since the loss to Kiko Martinez. Hopefully a european belt fight will be on the cards for the next year. Good man Bernard.

Good win for him. If he had of lost tonight it was the end of him.

Definitely. Even the commentators were saying how the experience of losing stood to him tonight. At the same time you'd have to wonder how much damage that Martinez fight did to his title ambitions. Must have set him back the guts of 2 years.
Great performance last night. Between Setanta and RTE, there was plenty of boxing on show. Let's just hope that Martinez will take the European belt in his next bout, which will possibly lead to a Dunne rematch...

as long as munroe has it,maloney wont let dunne near him.Again the performance was good but there is a serious question to be asked about the quality of opponent.
He has to step it up to get to european title level as they opponents are tougher and he has a chin of glass if the kiko fight is anything to go by(dont give me the rte caught cold sh##).His punches are glorified slaps but technically he is excellent.
Would love to see the euro belt on him again but a world title is nowhere on the horizon.

I agree. I like Dunne, he is one of us a red. But I think the Martinez fight was the end of his career, at least from a world championship point of view. Hope he proves me wrong though

I watched it and it was a good fight a tactical battle with Dunne not getting involved in a scrap. Not a bad under card with MrsDub13 cousin also fighting and winning. Its been a long time since we had this much Live Irish boxing with Andy Lee on the box next Sat night.

I'd rate Bernard alot higher than average in fairness. Winning the european title without losing a single fight along the way is impressive. My view on the Martinez fight was that he was genuinely caught unaware. He probably expected a lower tempo start that he could work his way in after a few rounds. For the weight category Kiko can pack very powerful punches and in that bout he started in 5th gear. Definitely the hungrier of the two. I think Bernard could take him in a rematch if he played a tactical game like last night. Munroe would be a notch up from that again.

With Lee and Duddy at the same weight division, that would be a dream bout.

Personally I think he would. Munroe would be a much tougher opponent than the fella the other night though. According to the RTE analysts he moves about very well and he's hard to tag. That's the level Bernard needs to be aiming for.

Dunne applied to be a fireman before the Martinez fight. Fully qualified now

I rate Bernard highly. But sometime I do wonder why he is only challenging now.
I think staying in the states would have been best for him too.
I used to box with Bernard. Well when I say used to box, I mean when I was 12 years old :D He was brought up as a gym rat. His Brothers were there all the time, as was his father (who boxed in the Olympics for Ireland back in the day).
Which reminds me, big shout out to another Clondalkin man. Kenneth Egan, doing very well in this Olympics.

Ham the size of him, imagine him trying to carry someone out of a window.
