Pretty disappointed in what Jay-Z did last night. I quite liked the Black Album but other than that his stuff and most of hip-hop is shit imo. All Noel said was that Glastonbury is historically a venue for guitar and rock based bands and rap/hip hop has its own festivals which is correct. I was watching BBC2 on Friday and they were doing a peice on a singer called Seasick Steve. He lives out of his transit van and brings it everywhere he plays. I am sure there are loads of similar stories with other artists who performed so I just dont see how the likes of Jay-z with the diamond jewellery, the huge entourages and the lyrics fit in.
well glastonbury has an array of different musical genres.. hip hop in the traditional sense has always been accepted. Although I would have liked to have seen a really big rock act headlining. Jayz is probably one of the most stereotypical rappers you can get.
I watched Jay Z on saturday night and thought he was very good. I am not anywhere near a fan of his but I really thought he put on a great show. I really enjoyed it and it looked like he went down well with the crowd aswell. Did anyone see the start where he came out with a guitar with Wonderwall by Oasis playing? haha.
Didn't See much of Glastonbury on the Telly but did catch the Verve last Night and Thought they were Brilliant....
Thought the same myself, they had a cracking finale. Looking forward to seeing them down in Oxegen the weekend after next.
Missed that, would have loved to have seen it. I'm a big fan of Richard Ashcroft, his solo stuff is quality imo Alone with Everybody is the best of the bunch
