Is there many on here who travel to the Irish away international games??

what has been your experiences like/comparison to liverpool euro aways?...are many heading to either of the norway, georgia or montenegro games later on in the year???

Pesonally i have hit a good few of them in the recent past. This years qualifying group, i intend to do most of them too (pending cheapish flights and annual leave allowance!).

Was in stutgart last time we played against Germany.

Best 3 days at an Ireland game the craic was great!

A few of us thinking of heading over for september games
as the wife's normallly buy us trips to football matches as birthday presents as three of our birthdays are from 5th sept - 20th sept we usually do Liverpool games but as we have done a lot over past past few years Ireland aways are on the agenda.

I get to at least two aways in every qualifying campaign. Never done a Liverpool away euro so cant compare. I dont find them as good craic as they used to be, a lot of idiots seem to travel nowadays. Also, if anyone is thinking of travelling to Ireland away games, as with Liverpool trips, dont travel with the rip off travel agents you will nearly always pick up tickets for Ireland away games either before you go or abroad.

I do a fair few Liverpool aways and get to some Ireland aways. The away friendlies and "lesser" qualifiers are far better than the glamour trips. An awful lot of whoppers turn up at the big matches. Also it can be near impossible to get tickets from the FAI for the bigger aways, even though

Liverpool aways are generally better on the whole imo but as I said away international friendlies are brilliant.

good topic, am looking to hit a few aways this campaign too

How much of an allocation do the FAI receive for away games?? think it used to be 10%.

And how do you go about applying for the tikkys? I'm sure you could pick up a ticket handy enough for the home end, but you want to be in the away end for the atmosphere

Its still 10% but for some games like France that increases when the home country doesnt look like filling the stadium. You have to apply to the FAI for an application form about two months before away games. The away ticket application form for Septembers games had to be applied for in early July.Unless you are a block booker you have no chance for the bigger games.Tickets are generally easy enough to pick up abroad, except for the big games. As you say, they are generally in the home end though. This shouldnt be a problem though as i know for certain that most of the travel agents selling packages from here whilst promising you tickets will get them for the home end only.

Are you sure France gave us more than 10% for that game? I was full sure that the influx in Irish fans getting their hands on tickets was due to them getting them via a French website in the home section. Considering France have no problem selling out the Stade de France for games against the likes of Lithuania in recent times, I doubt they would have given us more than the required amount a few years back.

Yes the fai defo got an increased allocation. I remember i was looking for four tickets from the fai and they originally gave me two and a couple of weeks before the game they offered me the other two. I know a lot bought them from eventim, the French ticket agancy as i did but sure we had the three tiers behind the goal which had to be more than 10%

Some well-known agent, was offering €400 for the away game in France as a day trip, so I watched it at home.

Have been to two away games with Ireland, was hoping to do Montenegro and/or Italy this time, but at this stage, Sofia in June looks more achievable. Would only accept tickets for the Ireland end, never the home one.

have been to 4 Ireland aways, Andorra in Barcelona '01 Germany and Saudi Arabia in Tokyo '02, and Wales in Cardiff '07, have to say they are great craic and are generally good spirited and no trouble, a mate went to Bratislava for the 2-2 draw he said the banter was brilliant as mostly Irish in the stadium and when Doyle got the rocket goal they were behind the goal and the atmosphere was something else, in comparison with a Liverpool Euro away I went to Athens and was disgusted with some of the behaviour of so called fans, one with a Liverpool top tried to grab the tickets out of my hand! I would definitely recommend a trip away with Ireland but not a European one with Liverpool from what I have experienced, for this campaign the Bulgaria game in Sofia might be good, we could be playing Georgia in a neutral venue like Switzerland also based on the current trouble in Tbilisi

Was in Bratislava for that game, we were right behind Doyler's screamer. :p We were allowed sit wherever we pleased as well behind the goal.

At half time however, the police reacted to an argument between two Irish fans with 12 of them arriving en masse, complete with full riot gear. Apparantly, it was due to the problems they had when England went there in 2002.:rolleyes:

Don't think this game will be happening Georgia in September the way things are right now. UEFA will need to make a decision within 2 weeks and I don't see the political situation changing much for the better by then. The FAI have released a statement this evening stating they have written to the releveant parties indicating that their preferred option is to find an alternative venue for the game on September 6th, otherwise I imagine the date of the game will be provisionally changed to November.

Unless there's a serious escalation, I can't see it affecting the tie. I'd say it'll all be over by the end of the week, and it's important that nobody makes any panic decisions in the meantime.

Georgia looking a better bet of going ahead at the moment.
For the Montenegro away game next month, tickets are hard to get i believe.
the italy and bulgaria games next year will be popular trips i'd imagine, expecially the italian one
