What do you prefer...?

Its a tough call, this has been a great Euros and the thing I like best about it is there are very few if any dud/one sided games every team has a chance to beat any opponent on there day.Plus big powerful football country's are playing each other right from the off.

On the other hand at the world cup you have the South Americans and to a lesser extent the odd good team from Africa. But there are loads of dud games at the world cup.

hmmm.... this euros has been very good, however I still look forward to World Cup more. If you weer ask me which I would rather Ireland qualified, it would be the World Cup every time.

This has been an excellent tournament though.

I do prefer the world cup over the euros for some reason but i would have to agree that the standard of football in this tournament has been in general very high.
The trouble with games that aren't too one sided they usually end up quite boring events, probably why we've had so many drawn games in the quarters.

The Euros this year have been great but I think the world cup gets my vote. There's always one or two dud games at the WC finals but watching the likes of Brazil and Argentina more than makes up for it in my book.

World cup, without a doubt...bigger cross section of football from around the globe...especially the ameriacas, with open attacking football...in with the Euros we merely have Russia and Spain this time round...

World Cup for me too, growing up its always the World Cup I remember most and the Euro's were just a fill in gap every two years. The WC obviously holds more prestige and the last one in Germany was a resounding success for all fans who travelled over, both inside and outside the grounds.

One thing I will say it that it is potentially easier to win the World Cup than the European version because its easier to avoid the bigger teams. Look at the one in 2002, Germany got all the ways to the final by playing only one European team (ourselves) and you'd have fancied us going all the ways to the final if we'd gotten that draw (note, this is not intended to spark off that whole Saipan issue again - obviously Roy Keano was right... ;):D ).

I would look forward to the world cup more so than the euros.
This euros have been pretty good alrite and have been plenty of goals aswell
as some good attaking footy.
But the fact that there is more teams from contrasting nations makes it more exciting.I dont generally watch african footy so its interesting to watch there styles etc.
Would love it even more if we were at most of these tournaments:D

The World Cup for me too. The South Americans and the Africans bring something unique to the tournament which the Euros just doesn't have. I also love the possibility of the World Cup having night matches like in 86 and 94. More 2am kick-offs I say!!! :D

Actually, thats a bit of downside in that you tend to miss a lot of matches in the World Cup if its not in Europe.

WC obviously, as there's more teams, and chance of winning games from an Ireland perspective.

With games in South Africa, (bad choice imo) next time round, people won't be missing matches, as it's the same time zone as Austria and Switzerland.

Tough one to call, there's a lot of poor games in the World Cup group stages. Can I have the option of the Euros with Brazil and Argentina.

Yeah, I remember Japan/Korea a couple of years back where I missed most of the weekday matches as they were on between 07:00 and 12:30 Irish time.

At least in 2010, South Africa is not hugely different in time and Brazil only 3/4 hours behind us in 2014 will be bearable too and from what I hear a European country is likely to host in 2018 so basically it will be another 14 years before we have to worry about it.

Oh and by far, I prefer the World Cup. I love it!!!!!
