If the Tevez deal goes though, ( it will) then united will really have an embarrrassment of attacking options to choose from. Nani looks incredible. Ronaldo will continue to terrorise minnows ( without ever having the quality to do it against any decent teams), Rooney will battle the bulge the grannies and will no doubt do well. Who knows about Andersson. Their defence, even allowing for that calamity ferdinand is good and Hargreaves will protect. Scholes, ( IMO their most important player last year) and Giggs appear ever green. Can they be stopped and if so how???

I'm worried, very worried, united had two unitedXI teams playing tonight against Glentoran and Dunfermline, and they were both such strong squads. Now our squad has got much improved and bigger and i am impressed, but i think we need time, i hope for the best this season but united look so so strong and they may just be unstoppable!

Only time can tell all the same, this league is not predictable in alot of ways and every match is a different story, so yeah, we'll have to wait and see!

Their attacking options are impressive no doubt.

I'm not convinced as to their defensive qualities. Neville is another year on but still competitive; Ferdinand was, is and always will be a stick; Vidic was probably their best last year; Brown still living on his 'potential' and is very imjury prone; Evra good going forward not so hot defensively; O'Shea...well apart from the buggers obvious goalscoring prowess :(

It's hard to see Scholes and Giggs sustaining last season's form although they do have more in that department with their signings.

I think they can be got at, the question is, can they be got at more than they get if you know what I mean.

I think United have too many poor players who simply are not Manchester United quality. Fletcher, Park Ji Sung, Evra, Saha are not good enough for a team like United. I think Ronaldo is a show boater and over rated. All being said I think John Terry's absence hurt Chelsea last season and I personally think if he was there Chelsea would have done the treble.

They're forwards are probably better but our midfield is better defensively and our back line is one of the best in the league.

We should have beaten them at anfield this year..we didn't... we should have beaten them at old trafford..twice.. we didn't. We got hammered there last season.

Think its time we owe them a loss or two. You can only plut 11 players on the pitch at a time.

I don't think we will win the league this year, but I could happen.

I dont think they are unstoppable but I dont believe we will be the team that will win the league this season to be honest. Once again, we have to let new players settle in and I still see us struggling to beat midtable teams (Bolton, Boro, Villa, Spurs) away from home. All of those teams are 3 easy points for utd.

dunno megager - no such thing as unbeatable. I know ure shocked since i'm usually the wet blanket to ure blind unfounded optimism but utd can be beaten - trust me. Any defence with calamity rio at the helm can be breached, my 14 month old daughter would have shown more strength against malouda 4 chelsea goal...and she's not 2 ft tall.
Secondly, i think he's goin all out (like chelsea 2) to win the CL so they may take risks with team selection in the prem. Its up to us to capatilise.
Unfortunately with the exception of torres we've added no world class talent to our side, and as preseason has blatantly shown, in glorious technicolor, we r painful to watch as an attacking force. Laborious, sluggish, unimaginative and ponderous in the extreme - their brains just swithch off past the halfway line. If torres gets injured is our team any better than last 3 years??
For all benitez's tactical acumen and defensive genius (reina goin for most clean sheets in a season for 3rd year running is a testimony to that), he just doesnt have the ability to coach attacking football - 57 league goals in 38 games last year (i think) proves that. Only that everyone else behind us is crap we'd have bein in trouble.
I hate tha mancs but they'll score buckets! I'm worried that if our defence creaks will we still get third

will Ronaldo get 25 goals this year? Probably not. Rooney isn't an orthodox Centre Forward, Tevez's goal scoring record isn't that hot(i.e. 14 or 15 goals in around 60 games for West Ham and Arg.) . Remember there'll be 3 or 4 players doing their own thing up front for united - not clear how they'll gel yet.

I'm not sure how we will stop them, but Rafa gets paid a bit more than me to work that one out so I'll leave that up to him :) To be honest I'm delighted that because of all the signings the most media attention is being given to them, leaving Rafa and co. to quietly get on with their own business and preparations. As good as all the signings have been, if you were to offer Sir Alex the option of the league or European Cup, he'd no doubt choose the European Cup - hopefully that will make them take their eyes off the league for a bit.

I think utds season could be patchy this year if ronaldo doesnt match last years form, cant see nani playing every week but i do agree he looks class.Giggs and Scholes will be another year older but still think they have at least another good season left.

I,m confident we can bridge the gap but not sure we can stop them or Chelsea finishing above us.Though it will be interesting to see how chelsea get on without terry, have to say their defence looked all at sea when he was injured last season, even cech look wobbly.

    Hi

Much as I hate to say it, I fear Utd are going to finish first this season, while we are improving and should do better than last year (in terms of points of the lead), I suspect we're playing for second with a (slightly) unpredictable Chelski & Spurs also competing for the 3rd & 4th spot, Arsenal to finish 5th me thinks.

Interesting to read the predictions of fans from various other clubs, on LFC.tv over the past day or two, many predicted it just as I am guessing above .... don't get me wrong, I'd love to think I'll be eating my hat when we lift No 19 obviously ;)

The bottom line here is we need to focus on how well we can do, ignore the others and let them trip over their egos etc.

Look at the end of the day i think the problem with the premier league is that there is just to many bad teams in there week in week out that Man Utd destroy.(Bolton,Newcastle, everton and the like)That is the reason fergie has the last laugh most years in the premiership. Now when it comes to the best teams in europe he struggles year after year.As fabio cappello said a few years back,if he was the manager of man utd over the last 18 odd years with the money they have had etc.....and he had only won 1 euro cup he didnt think he would be in a job still. Most teams and managers in Europe are of the highest quality and can make players like ronaldo and ferdinand look like the chumps that they are.So this in my opinion is the problem that Rafa and the boys have to overcome to bring home number 19.Just beat the bad teams and the rest will look after itself.I dont think man utd have made great signings this year at all.Hargreves, tevez and the like are not going to be good enough to fill the boots of scholes and giggs longterm so this can only be good news for us.I hate to say it but i think we will finish second this year behind chelsea who have looked hungrey in pre-season.But hey i hope im wrong. But to answer the question overall,No i dont think utd are unstoppable at all and if anything with all the money fergie has spent is under pressure to bring another euro cup to old toilet.
