Former European champions Porto have been thrown out of next season's UEFA Champions League by Uefa. The 2003/04 Champions League winners, under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, were punished after being found guilty of bribing referees in two games in the same season. Porto, who secured their third consecutive Portuguese title this season, were docked six points for their part in the match-fixing scandal - although it failed to make an impact on the table. However, rather than testing themselves against Europe's finest next season, the Portuguese championship find themselves out of the competition altogether. Porto have stated they will do their utmost to overturn Uefa's decision, although the club would not give any reaction to the punishment. Source : Sky sports
just seen that on the bbc, that was when moanihoe was incharged aswell read somewhere else today that milan will be allowed back into the cl also taking the place of some bulgarian club
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun4d.html Just confirmed that milan will not be in the CL
Looks like porto are now back in it????? if a team is done for bribery and corruption how can uefa just ignore it and act as if nothing has happened???? if that was an english team arsehole platini would throw the book at us, doubl standards or what
What a looad of Bull that is to let them back in, Your right aido if it was an english club Platini would be looking to get all English clubs banned, They only way any of the french clubs will have a chance of winning an european trophy and he knows it..............
Absolutely disgraceful decision from UEFA imo. Platini has been doing enough bitching and moaning about two English teams playing in the European Cup final and the stupid money in the English game, while blatantly encouraging other clubs to chance their arm at cheating cos they'll probably get away with it anyway. I think Plantini and his organisation need to take a long, hard look at themselves and establish why they are prioritising attempts to cut down on the number of legitimate English clubs playing in the worlds biggest club competition, while at the same time inviting corrupt and cheating clubs have a go.
