Good buy for Sunderland I think, even if a little pricey.

I think he's way overpriced. Prone to the odd gaff or two, there's surely better value around.

Hi
I think the price was up to £9, not exactly sure what criteria had to be met but I'd guess it's so many appearances etc.
Ah, here it is:
But Gordon has agreed a five-year deal to become Sunderland's record signing after undergoing a medical at the club.
It is understood that Sunderland will pay an initial £7m, plus £2m in future payments dependent on appearances.
Nice to see the boy Roy has a few bob to spend this season, although this is the most he's spent on a single player to date .... and for a goalie, am I missing something here ?
I think he still needs a proven goalscorer that's going to get a few early on...the sort of thing Rednapp did a couple of things buying experienced players will always see him go well...like for instance, i hear hasselbaink is training again with Chelsea and looking for a club...and god forbid andy cole...but i think they would give sunderland that initial push...
Yorke and Cole partnership at Sunderland!!! Keane might do that you know. I think Gordon is a good buy for the club but I agree with the above maybe a bit pricey.

I'm glad he's taken O'Donovan as well, I think it will be good for the lad, he seems to have the stuff.

Ya I agree that O'Donovan could be a good buy for them, though I doubt he'll reach the levels that Kevin Doyle is currently playing at.
As for Gordon, I think its a good buy for them, seems a class act between the post, but like a few others here, £9m seems a bit excessive.

Only 30 years old, had has his problems with injuries but seems to be over them now. He has been released by Sunderland.
Hopefully we get a new manager soon, so we could sign Craig on a free. Great back up keeper for Pepe. Or, God forbid, if Pepe leaves in the summer, at least we have a class keeper to step in, at no price.
what do you's think?
PS. Sunderland already have very good keepers in Simone Mignolet and Westwood as back up, I doubt Craig wanted to be second or third choice at a club like Sunderland, with all due respect to them.

I could see how he could be a back up possibly, but the prospect of him becoming our number one if Pepe was to leave is crazy!
The very fact he's 3rd choice at Sunderland says an awful lot about his ability and his commitment/desire to fight for his place.

So are you saying that we should take Craig Gordon as our 2nd choice keeper, possibly number 1(if Pepe leaves), but yet he would have at best been Sunderlands 2nd choice? But more than likely 3rd choice, who got released. I don't think it's as simple as taking him and hoping he's back to his best. I'd swerve this one.

Hows about we NEVER again sign another player on the back of 3 years of injuries in the hope Jesus will have some how healed them.

There is a reason why Sunderland are releasing him.I would be more than happy if we never again signed a player on a Bosman.

Unless Doni wants to leave, I would keep him for second choice. Made some good saves in the matches he played.
