Reds Duo On Target For Holland Sat 24 May, 10:09 PM Dirk Kuyt staked his claim for inclusion in Holland squad for Euro 2008 with the opening goal in a comfortable 3-0 win over Ukraine on Saturday. The Liverpool striker has been included in Marco van Basten's 26-man preliminary party but, having been left out of the squad for the friendlies at the start of the year, is still fighting to seal his place on the plane to Austria and Switzerland. He did his chances no harm though with a fine header midway through the first half before fellow frontman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar doubled the Dutch lead. Another Liverpool man, Ryan Babel, rounded off the victory after the break. Hungary produced a superb second-half comeback to defeat European champions Greece 3-2. Erwin Koeman's side scored three times in the space of 16 minutes after the break to give Otto Rehhagel's men plenty to think about ahead of the defence of their crown. Balazs Dzsudzsak, Roland Juhasz and Krisztian Vadocz were all on target after Ioannis Amanatidis had given Greece the lead on the stroke of half-time. Nikos Liberopoulos struck late on to reduce the deficit, but Greece will have to improve when they come up against Europe's finest in Austria and Switzerland. Valon Behrami scored one and made another as Euro 2008 co-hosts Switzerland warmed up for the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Slovakia. The Lazio striker slid home the opener before setting up Alexander Frei as Kobi Kuhn's side saw off their stubborn opponents with two goals in eight second-half minutes. Patrick Muller, who left Lyon without permission on the eve of Saturday's Coupe de France final in order to prove his fitness to Kuhn, played 77 minutes before being replaced by Johan Djourou. Croatia warmed up for the tournament with a 1-0 win against Moldova, but their victory was anything but convincing. Nico Kovac scored the only goal of the game after 31 minutes but coach Slaven Bilic will have plenty of food for thought as his side struggled to break down a poor, defensively-minded Moldova team and gave away the ball too easily. would anyone agree with me in saying rafa should try sign klaas-jan huntelaar to go along side torres up front?
Watched to dutch last night. They looked excellent. Kuyt got a great header and played very well. The dutch could be very dangerous! Might advance fro the gruop of death.
Looked very dangerous alright, and were awesome going forward. If they weren't in the group of death their odds would be alot smaller but the 12/1 for them to win the tournament looks very tempting!
Havent really being paying much attention to him but what i have seen of him he is a super talent, Not sure if he is the type of player we need tho to play with torres ..........
try looking him up on youtube. solid forward . one of my favourite players outside the liverpool squad
Any doubts i had have just been cleared up go get him Rafa Have a look at this vid the boy is class Career total: 181 Apps 127 Goals And the boy is only 23....................................................... Good call Jaza..............
and im sure the fact he knows kyut and babel will help sign him. united have been linked with him last year and this year. his contract is up this year with ajax as far as i know
I would be surprised if Ajax allowed that to happen, Not saying your wrong or anything like it mate But ajax are a huge selling club i cant imagine them allowing his contract run down to even 2 years before the sell never mind a year? Would be nice if it is true tho get him on the cheap might even be worth keeping Kuyt for another season..........
ive discussed this with a few people since you commented on it last and he is priced higher than fernando "apparently". im a fan of klaas jan but the people that are running us i dont think will spend that this year after we didnt win anything after buying torres for that much money. which at this stage in the premiership is bad running because we need to spend that money otherwise were not gonna get anywhere . in all fairness we have a class team but when it comes down to it we dont stand much of a chance against a club that will spend over 100 million in one summer . we have to catch up but its gonna be tough. much respect for rafa for the pressure he deals with under those two yanks it upsets me to read about it. im on a rant now and if i dont stop il go on forever so il cut it here. klaas come to pool ...rafa sign him without hesitation ... nuf said
i do apolagize aswell because i cant find on the skysports website where it says he is at the end of his contract but he is definately looking for a move which is confirmed here http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3591943,00.html pity that liverpool are not linked with him. reference my last comment
No Need for apologies mate your post did say you think.......... To be honest as much as i agree with most of your post here mate it wouldnt surprise me in the least if Rafa is given the go ahead for one big summer signing, Another ploy by hicks to try win the fans over no doubt...... But as you say we wont get into that as we will be here all night and there is a dedicated thread for that discussion which is very busy
