just thought id start one up as im getting all excited about going to croker with meath on sunday.anyone watch the westmeath game??pure rubbish i thought, was more like basketball. a good tip for theis weekend could be carlow +9 points against meath and galway -7 points against roscommon, both are 11/10 with paddy power.kildare -5 against wicklow is about the same and tempting too
i wouldnt be too confident about roscommon, they were absolute garbage in the league. hard to call kildare, they had a great league but wicklow are well capable of going close. as the username may suggest, im looking forward to cork v tipp and kerry in the munster final.
I agree with you there mate, they have been knocking on the door the past few seasons it has to be our season!!
Monaghan for Sam, although if we play like we did against Westmeath and Cork we are going nowhere. I think Tyrone and Armagh will be back strong this year, along with Galway. If Dublin can keep 15 men on the pitch for more than one match, they will win Leinster. Kerry the team to beat.
Agree with Kopirish Kerry the team to beat can't rule out the dubs or tyrone or armagh, I expected more out of Donegal last year but don't think tey'll step up. Cork Meath Derry and galway best of the rest but a level below. As for the hurling Killkenny hot favourites with most of munster chasing them. Galway could be the team to watch this year.
Difficult to call Sam for this year. Kerry obviously the team to beat but I have a hunch for an ulster county. Id say Derry or Tyrone. Dublin will do the usual flatter to devieve. Would love it if they beat Kerry. Hurling, for once promises to be an interseting championship. I think Galway will surprise a few people, but having already won money on Tipp in the league, I fancy them fro the double. Cork will lose to Kilkenny in semis, Tipp to beat Galway and then Tipp to beat Kilkenny in Final.
I better qualify that comment about hurling. I mean interesting from a galway perspective. Fed up being knoced out pre semis.
thats why im taking galway minus the seven i reckon they could win by double figures.corcaigh your footballers went up there with one training session and won.
DUBS FOR SAM THIS YEAR!. We've been knocking for far too long and weren't too far away (yet again) last year. If we can learn how to kill off a game - i.e stop taking our foot off the pedal when we're a few points ahead then we will have very good chance of beating the likes of Kerry in the final. Will be rooting for Galway in the the hurling
I think you could be onto something there Mrs SG. The Dubs can only blow it so many times, I think this will finally be the year they come through. As for the hurling, I agree that Kilkenny will be the team to beat, but with there being so many good teams in the mix this year I have a feeling someone could catch them out on a bad day. I'm gonna back Cork for the hurling, all bias aside
sorry, i didnt read it properly! roscommon have got worse since then. yeah galway should stuff them and cover the handicap
thats a slightly silly comment, i cant remember the last time dublin had a man sent off in championship. dublin are not a dirty team despite what happened against meath and this is coming from a proud corkman derry are the team to beat in ulster now but tyrone could do something provided their bad luck with injuries stops.(and deaths, rip cormac) armagh have regressed terribly. i doubt monaghan or derry can win an all-ireland, they have 2 terrific forwards in freeman and bradley but little else. i hope cork have a serious chance but im expecting nothing. going up to croker and watching them getting stuffed by kerry everytime is just as upsetting as mancs getting 6 points off us every year. with goulding, masters, o connor, gould, cork have genuine class in the forwards, dare i say they have the best forwards overall outside of Kerry. very powerful midfield too with newbie Alan o connor(good friend of mine) and Nicolas Murphy.
dublin were having a good keeper away from making the final last year, i think cluxton is the most-over-rated keeper in the country, he makes bad ball playing decisions.
Dublin are like Liverpool in that they are probably not the best footballing side in the country and have tended to bridge the gap through their fitness levels. Also guilty of not taking points at vital stages in games and having a defence which can be shaky if isolated from the rest of the team. Dublin have a few stars like Whelan and Brogan, a few hard workers and not bad players like Keaney, Ryan and Cullen, after that there is not a huge amount to choose between the majority of the remaining squad. The team needs it main players to stay fit and perform, can't afford the luxury unlike Kerry of missing one or two.
