Elton John is convinced the only way to save music is to shut the internet down.

The British pop superstar fears there's "too much technology available" and claims that it is starving musical creativity.

"I do think it would be an incredible experiment to shut the whole Internet down for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span," he said.

"I'm sure, as far as music goes, it would be much more interesting than it is today."

Elton looks forward to a musical revolution - from a new punk.

"We need something like jazz or hip-hop or punk to come along and shake things up… I think the disenchantment of this moment has got to come out," he said.

"I hope whatever it produces will be even fiercer than punk. We need something to do that - and we need it quickly."

    Ageed!!!
On a lighter note. Apparently Elton has split up with his "husband", Elton was said to be devastated when he found out that his partner had been cheating on him. He said " I can't believe he was having sex behind my back all along"

    I'll get my coat.

I'm sure Bill Gates and Co are rushing down at the moment to shut the net down just because some millionaire lost some spare change last year...

    What a pre-madona

the net gives everybody a level playing field and allows all types of artists and business's a world market,it can help joe bloggs from tallaght with his home recording studio reach just as big a market as
artists such as elton john,in fact the internet is the new punk he is talking about and its hurting big label music.

I am all for musicians and songwriters recieving their due but creativity also prospers through interaction and sharing.

Easy on the personal attacks lads .... this is a family friendly site now you know :)

Just because you couldn't turn your back on this guy :D :D :D

    Getting back on topic...

I fully support the internet, online sales of music, downloads etc & encourage all to do the same. We've been ripped off by the music & film industry for too long already .... buy online, download etc.

The man's deluded if this was the case the whole world's business sector would crash and the speed of companies collaborating and responding to their customers would cause a problem. The fact that he said this shows how much a penny-pinching parasite some of these mega rich celebrities etc are made of.

Elton John is loaded so i don't know why he is complaining, if it wasn't for the internet i'd say that about 40% if not more of the worlds population would be lost i know from experience in working IT how this can effect people for example who make their living on selling and buying on Ebay
