For anybody that didn't see this. Please watch it.
This shows the Government up for what it really is.It affects the minority and therefore not worthwhile, as it will not get votes.
Our children are been neglected and abused and as long as they can keep a lid on the can of worms and make sure it stays hidden then they don't really care.
There is no money or return in giving funding to our children and they won't get grants from the EU for doing so.
As usual if it is to big a job then ignore it and keep a lid on it and hopefully it will go away.
Why do they give millions to disasters in other countries? Reason is they get recognition for it.
Junket trips, tribunals, consultants, reports more reports, tax incentives for the rich etc, etc.
Our vulnerable innocent kids.No benefit to us or our pockets. This is the Government we have in place.
Sick, looking at this programme and as usual, deny it and toe the party line and we might forget about it because it does not affect us.
How much has been spent on the Lisbon Treaty?
Why do we let these things happen to our children.
Before anybody thinks it is any different on the North, it is not.
    Disgraceful.
SHAME ON ALL OF US .

Apart from the "kissing babies" routine, when have children mattered to politicians?

    These children are our future.
    How many commit suicide?
How many grow up to do the same to their children or others?
How many end up on drugs and a life of crime?
How much could be saved in the future if these children were cared for and grew up in a normal loving environment?

We kick up a fuss and have marches and petitions.
We take our neighbours to court as a matter of pride but when asked to do something meaningful and worthwhile we turn away and if truth be told, we really don't want to hear about it because it evokes a feeling of guilt for not doing anything about it and it invades our comfortable little lives.

Fathers are prevented from seeing their children.
For those that can see their fathers, kids are left in creches so parents can progress their careers. The kids then receive low standards of supervision in them.
The lack of childcare facilities in general is absurd.
Those who abuse children, receive token sentences in court.
Kids grow up in disadvantaged areas, where little is done by tptb to change the situation. Anything that could be done, is blocked by objections.
Kids study in appalling conditions, in oversized classes, and those who wish to study in colleges receive token financial assistance from government.
Kids crawl around on street corners at night, commit crimes, due to lack of activities/facilities provided by government/councils.
Any kids that want to change their situation, have to wait until they're 18 before they can vote.
Therefore most politicians are 40+, and have no understanding of what it is to be a child in modern day Ireland.

In short, kids have no say and no rights in this country. When the same government is elected time after time after time by their parents, there is no change in the situation. If it's not about money, people don't want to know.

the amount of People i know who have Commiitted Suicide,Died from or are Addicted to Drugs,Sell Drugs, are Alcoholics or are Locked Up is Staggering.we all came from the same Area but when i Look back now the main Reason for this was Parents who Neglected them.
even now i could nearly Pick out the Kids who will have Troubled Lives in the Future cos the Signs are so clearly there.

    Exactly Mate.
Life of a Government is only short term and as it would cost their term in office too much with no benefit to themselves, only to future generations. If there is no gain in power for them then they will not do it.
Lowest of the low.How they can stand there and deny the problem is beyond me.
This shows the calibre of human being that is involved in politics.
Egotistical self centred greedy *******s only out for what they can get.

I am acutally beyond the stage of thinking a government can help a society. It works the other way around and is then exploited.

Such and such is happening, " what are the government planning on doing".

We don't actually need a government at all. Its all designed to keep a ruling elite in charge and reduce the common person to a lifetime of serving their whims and "whats best for the sate is best for you" etc

Unfortunately according to the latest opinion polls the government are back to their general election results since Cowen came in - a lot of people seem to only care about how much money is in their pockets/cars/houses/holidays as opposed to society in general - unless that changes the government/Fianna Fail will get away with it.

Im confused by your posts Marathonman. You open with a sweeping anti-government rant blaming them for every problem with children today. Above, however, you lay the blame, correctly in my opinion, firmly at the door of the those legally responsible for them.

Where do actually lay the blame? It cant be both. I personally believe that the blame lies with the adults that interact with the children as they grow up. You cant blame the government for parents not raising their children to be decent law abiding citizens.

Both posts are talking only about neglected/abused children.
You call it a rant and me blaming the govt for all childrens problems today.
If you read my post and watched the programme then you would see that I never mentioned problems with all children just those who have been neglected and abused.
All my so called rants are based on the States refusal to care for these at risk children.
I at no time make reference to children as a whole.
I blame the government for not protecting children from these adults. If a parent/guardian is abusing/neglecting their children then they should be taken away and cared for by the state .
If I had my way these people would not be allowed to have children. There are people in society who are not fit to look after themselves but are allowed to raise children
If you report a person for continuous cruelty to animals they will in most cases be either jailed or fined and will be banned from owning/breeding animals for life.
An animal is protected by the state from abuse a child is not.A child has no rights and no voice .Who do you propose looks after them when they are been mistreated?
Why, are our countries children allowed to remain in vulnerable positions within their own home?

Bringing a child into this world is very simple, but to raise them and care for them for 18 years is very rewarding and pleasurable but equally very demanding.
Also, I do not lay the blame at those legally responsible, I blame the authorities for not acting when notified of an at risk child and still leaving them with those who are carrying out these heinous acts and letting them continue to so with the full knowledge of what is happening to the child.
The state is complicit in the systematic abuse of children by not acting on this information when given to them.

This is my so called 'rant'

    Agree with that post.

But hope is at hand, FF won't be re-elected next time with Cowen as leader. The opposition is strong, and is desperate to reform the public services.

Still won't make any difference.Children are not a priority especially given the fact they don't have a vote.

I watched the programme. I just got a different meaning from your post. I thought you were referring to children as a whole.

I totally agree with what your saying. Children with special needs are overlooked.

    My misunderstanding. Sorry.

No problem. It's just that this sort of thing really winds me up.I get really mad thinking about these innocent helpless children with nobody willing to protect them.
They turned a blind eye when the clergy did it and are still doing it even after this.
It maddens and horrifys me to think what some of these children are subjected to with the full knowledge of the State.
Most of these children with these special needs are only like this because of the abuse.
The crime against children is bad enough but the lives that these children have to endure throughout their entire life into adulthood and old age with the scarring of the acts committed on them forever in their minds.

You're spot on there Digger88. Couldn't agree more.

I didn't see the program in question and to be honest I don't like watching these programs as I just find them very distressing and I get angry seeing what goes on.
Its so sad that in today's so called "celtic tiger" and cosmopolitan Ireland that things have changed so little since the time when the Catholic Church were allowed to imprison and abuse children, backed up by the Courts and the State. Your dead right Marathon man in everything you say. Its very sad that these poor kids have no voice and no one to protect them.
Anyone that abuses a child, in my opinion is just pure evil.

to be honest mate, a vote means very little. you get a choice of less than a handful of parties who call around once a year maybe, ask for a vote. You vote based on their policies which you don't have a say in and then on voting for candidate A or B or C thats as far as you go with it.

    Not very democratic imo.

Agreed, but if children had a vote, they would become important to Politicians.

When you vote, you get a choice of which party/ combination of parties is going to screw you over for the next 5 years or so. That's about it.
