Have been hoping this would happen. Loved the lord of the rings trilogy. Did del torro direct pans labyrinth.

While I have no problem with Del Toro making The Hobbit, and to be honest even if Jackson wasnt involved as producer I'd still have been confident Del Toro would have stuck with the overall feel of the Lord of the Rings trilogy I am very concerned however that they are just making up a 'bridge' film for the sake of it as a cash in.

They will probably stick the Fellowship characters in it for no reason other than they think it will get more bums on seat and could at the end of the day cheaped the original trilogy.

Tolkien didnt write a book taking us from the Hobbit to the Fellowship so why should Hollywood suddenly decide its necessary to make up a story?

Yeah the whole Brodge film sounds unusual, could be a disaster. The Hobbit basically involves, Bilbo, dwarves, a dragon and so on..
