i was having a look at the squad this evening and we do look very short of cover at the back. I am not convinced that Arbeloa or Auruellio are quality enough to maintain a title challenge. Our main back four is among the best in the league but with Sami getting slower by the day, Rafa MUST get at least one more defender before season starts.
as long as one of the two centrebacks doesnt get seriously injured (touch wood) we'll be fine, he obvisouly wants cover there otherwise the whole heinze thing wouldn't exist. And i still don't thionk we'll mount a title challenge so its all a bit moot.
if we do have injuries at centre back and hyypia is the only cover we could operate Alonso as a kind of Libero type of player
Yeh think that is why he wanted Heinze to cover centre back as well as cover or play left-back. Dont think this Heinze thing is gona be sorted before the transfer deadline because the Mancs wont let it go,but no doubt they will have there Tevez deal sorted.
