I haven't used it myself but a friend of mine had a problem with a fraudulent seller on Ebay and paypal weren't a bit helpful. Basically said there was nothing they could do and wouldn't give him a refund.

In saying that I its widely used and most people don't have a problem with it.

Bit of common sense on ebay and you will be safe.Check their feedback and comments. If new or alot of negative feedback then don't buy from them.

Hi

As an alternative, NETeller can be quite good also ... just like Paypal in many respects, offers the advantate of a Mastercard debit card too.

Think the charges are similar. NETeller is still used a fair bit for online gambling, whereas think PayPal totally left this world when it was bought out by Ebay.

Neteller is a quoted company, on London's LSE / AIM, can't recall which and is regulated by the British Financial Regulator etc.

check out: www.neteller.com if you want more info.

I think there's also another competitor called Moneybookers but not familar with it to be honest.

Yeah I agree with ya there. But its just someone posted that you could get your money back if you don't receive the goods, but from what I hear, thats not the case.

I see someone has set up an "anti-paypal" wesite haha have a look www.paypalsucks.com

I know it only takes 1 Loo la to set up a web site like that but it does
put a doubt in my mind.

True it probably was set up by some lunatic and I wasn't pointing to it as reference for whether you should use paypal or anything, just thought was interesting. As the others have said, once you're careful who you are buying from i think you'll be fine. Is the website you're buying from reputable enough? If so should be grand:)

I have to agree with this,I have both a Paypal and Neteller account and I use the Neteller much more in saying that its not as widely used as Paypal.

lol :D

To be honest, whenever I'm buying anything onine, I just use my Visa card without worry. As I see it:

- there's 90 day purchase protection on most things, if you buy on credit card

- if there's a problem, you get onto your bank tell them yourself & the merchant are in dispute as you've never received your goods etc and they will freeze the payment - the term they use is "it's in dispute". This lasts for 90 days, after which time if the dispute is not resolved, I think you get your dosh back (might want to confirm this one). OK, occassionally, your bank will need a kick to get them to do this, but they will if pushed a little.

Sounds very dodgy. If I were you I would forward the email to spoof@paypal.com.
It's better to be safe than sorry.

Go direct to the pay pal site - https://www.paypal.com and log in, if it asks after you log in it's legit!
