Anybody else see Cisse tonight in the France v England game? Looks like he hasn't changed at all - we did well to lose him.

He looked a bit clueless on the edge of the box, and just shot even when it was obviously going to be blocked. He's still lightening fast, but has no left foot. And he gets caught offside far too easily.

Compared to Torres - well there's just no comparison.

    Hi

Regardless of what you think of Cisse, you can't really compare him with Torres ... at twice the price, you'd want twice the player right ? ;)

fair point, so for somebody like Voronin we paid nothing and therefore can expect nothing, and he delivered fantastically on that.

I dont think Cisse is the best player in the world, but I reckon he got a raw deal at Liverpool, not so much by Rafa, but circumstances. Rafa did not buy him and he sure aint a Rafa type player, then he got that terrible injury. He fought back though, His goal scoring record was not bad though and he did score a peno in Istanbul and an important one in the FA Cup Final.

Its clear that one thing Rafa insists above all else is a good work ethic, hence why Kuyt stays in the side.

Cisses was a me, myself and I type of player, who moaned when not passed to, didnt track back, did nothing when he got the ball except get caught offside and had no natural striking instincts, it was all hit the ball as hard as you can with him and hope it goes in.

His days were numbered once Rafa took over. Of all the players Rafa has let leave the club Garcia is the only one that I feel was a big mistake.

Harsh, he scored a good few goals and has scored wherever he has been so to say he has no striking instincts is wide of the mark. The Offside thing though was unbelievable, even last night he got caught out stupidly a few times

I dont think letting Garcia go was a mistake, for me he was almost as frustrating as Cisse in many aspects of his play, passing, not tracking back and loosing possession very easily.

We'll agree to disagree on both, Garcia may have been as frustrating but he scored vital and cracking goals for us when needed and although Gerrard gets all the plaudits for Instanbul, Garcia imho was the MVP of that entire cup run.

we can all agree Cisse aint the best player in the world but the strikers we have brought in since aren't either !!
So what does that tell us ?

Garcia is a different matter(I think) in as far a I know he wanted to go and Rafa helped him sort it out , had he not wanted to go he might be still here . Frustrating player but had "something" (especially on european nights)and was always worth a punt for first goal in the CL games , again unlike the players who have come in since!!!

Garcia used to annoy the bloody hell out of me, his control was awful and his passing was even worse .... but boy could the lad score you goals in Europe!!!

That was due to the Marseille v Paris factor.
