Nabil El Zhar is his name. He did do well when he came on today but I wouldnt read too much into it. Ive seen him in 2 reserve games and as sub in the league a couple of times and I wouldnt hold out much hope for him breaking into the first team.

El Zhar played well but he was a shining light in such a unevental contest. it was a boring game nothing much happened really.

Rafa was full of praise for him after the game, but his only notable senior appearance last season was a substitute appearance against Portsmouth, think he was thrown on for the last 10 minutes or so of that game, and that was back in November! I doubt Babel or Pennant will be overly concerned at the moment, but if he keeps putting in performances like he did today I say the lad deserves a decent chance in the senior team this year.

Anybody know much about Leto? I have watched the you tube stuff and I gotta say I,m not raving, but anyone know anything more than he is a 6 foot 2 left winger with pace and a few step overs....and wears an elastic band on his hair ala Caniggia

I've read on wikipedia that he is considered to be the hottest Argentinian talent after Leo Messi. He seems confident and skillful and I think he is going to be good.

I wouldnt trust much on wikapedia, but thanks for that. He looks unusual in that he is so tall and a winger

I wouldn't go that far ! I think his record stinks to me honest, fans of German footie were dismayed we bought him and I'd be suprised if he stepped up. I'll admit though his early form has been good and he looks hungry as he well knows he's was brought in on a free to make up the numbers, is down the pecking order and basically has only one season to make an impact unlike Torres & Co. hence his statements about fighting to not be on the bench. But have seen that before like Smicer had a great pre-season before but it rarely if ever translates once the real thing starts except for in the prelude to Gerrard's best season two years ago. At least he's hungry but I still don't think that'll be enough but good to see it in a at best 4th striker (if short because of injuries could still see Gerrard, Babel or Kewell being stuck in before him TBH)

So now that after decades of trying to find the next Maradona and he's finally been established as Messi the search has now moved onto speculating who'll be the next Messi ;):D

More a league cup run I'd say. In fact I think we'll be doing an Arsenal this year and won't have more than 3 first teamers in for the league cup and I reckon thats the right approach not soley because of other first team commitments but more because the reserve/youth competitions don't suffice for these players so hopefully they can actually compete. Between the likes of these lads and guys not getting regular games in the league we should have the equivalent of a good Championship team and would put Carson in for whole of league cup and FA cup.

Yeah was at that Portsmouth game in Anfield but think he got a start in one of those two games that we got accused of not trying when our heads were in ancient Greece before our legs. Portsmouth away actually might've been one of them.

He may not yet step up when the season starts, but he is doing all that that can be expected in pre-season.He's hungry looking for the ball, scoring goals, playing with a lot of heart, very much the attributes expected of a Liverpool player which is the key here i think.Fitting in to the traditions of the club is what's important imo and while previous form with clubs can't be ignored he may yet translate his present form when the season kicks off.

His biggest obstacle will probably be the amount of time he'll get on the pitch, with Torres and Kuyt probably being Rafa's first choice strikers.

Not to mention Crouch ! He is hungry alright and is doing all he can do in pre-season. Put it this way if he drastically improves his stats and proves himself via sub appearances (presuming Torres, Kuty and Crouch are being rotated) I'll be the first to applaud him and take it back and it'll truly be a free signing / bonus. I'm just always very wary of reading too much in pre-season form.

Maybe he's not as crap as feared but equally maybe not as good as all of a sudden hoped. Least we seem to have a good squad player at a very good price for a striker.
