If 9 points are taken from these games, then I reckon a push for the dizzy heights of 3rd is on. Realistically I see us taking 5 points whcih may just keep us in the hunt for 4th.

Do people think we can take all 9?

Manchester United v Liverpool

Liverpool v Everton

Must admit I am quite nervous for the run in....Everton seem to have the easier run with Chelsea and Arsenal to play whereas we have Utd, Arsenal, Man. City and Spurs. The 1st 2 fighting for the league and the others looking for 5th, now that 6th is not a definate European spot. I would love 9 points from the next 3 games but agree that 5 is more realistic and hoping SCUM don't get another flukey John O'Shea goal

I think to consolidate 4th spot we need 7 points and one of the wins being against the bitters. 5 points would still leave us a bit vunerable.

My main concern to be honest is if we draw the Mancs or Gooners in the Champions league it will be 3 games in 2 weeks against either of them which could take its toll.

Oh this is going to be a nerve wrecking few weeks for us, i absolutely hate playing United because we just never play the same against them as we do against everyone else. The players seem to go into the game expecting to lose. A draw out of both the gunners and utd would be a good result but will prove very difficult.
Taking 3 points from Everton is absolutely essential, anything less takes the race for fourth spot out of our hands.

bang on ed, we have to beat the blue sh*t. Ideally if we can stuff Reading and Fulham can manage something on Sunday, the task becomes more clear. That would put us 2 clear, and a derby win would mean 5 clear. That allows us room for a slip up in the 2 tough trips. 2 points would normally be considered a good haul from 2 such games, and on current form there's no reason why we cant achieve this. I would love to absolutely smash the mancs, since rafa has had the job we've had nothing to celebrate in the league against them, far too many dour performances and jammy last minute goals. What goes around comes around in football, we owe them one.

Absolute ideal for the rest of the season would be:
Mancs dont win league or CL
We finish 4th and win the CL
Blue sh*t finish 6th and miss out on Europe.

a bit nervous about the run in my eslf aswell.everton look to have the easier run in.there's no doubt and vital that we beat them at home, gonna be tough tho.like someone mentioned we owe utd 1 aswell.would be great to take 3 points away to them and knock them back in the title race.can see torres doing the business against them after they courted him a few seasons back.i'd nearly take winning the champions leauge and finnishing 5th.means we'd be in the c/l and the toffes would suffer again cause of us.:D

didnt UEFA sort out the rules after the last debacle? i.e. winners auto qualify regardless of their league position and/or top 4?

Well 9 points gone out the window already but we should still be hoping for 4 points out of the next two. Beating Everton will be a massive step forward for us but we still have a few tricky games left, and i believe our last game of the season is away to spurs, hope it doesn't come to us needing a result from that!

Beat Everton at the weekend and we'll be 5 points ahead of them. That should sort out 4th place considering that Everton have Chelsea at home and have to go away to Arsenal too. Then we just need to worry about the Champions League.
